Biography: Dr. Bryan is a Shreveport native and a graduate of LSU. He graduated from LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport and completed his internship as well as his ophthalmology residency at the hospital there. He also completed a year of training in vitreo-retinal diseases and surgery. In 2010, Dr. Bryan joined WK Eye Institute where he specializes in cataract and refractive surgery as also offers general eye care. Dr. Bryan performs cataract surgery at the WK Portico Ambulatory Surgery Center, part of the WK Pierremont Health Center, and at WK Eye Surgery Center located at WK Eye Institute - North on the campus of Willis-Knighton Medical Center. Biography: Wyche T. Coleman, III, MD, is a board certified ophthalmologist (American Board of Ophthalmology) at WK Eye Institute in Shreveport, a Willis-Knighton clinic in northwest Louisiana. He prides himself in delivering strong, ethical and thorough patient care in eye disease and surgery. His areas of emphasis include premium intraocular lens/ cataract surgery, custom LASIK, custom PRK, refractive lens exchange and general eye care for patients with diabetes, macular degeneration and glaucoma. Dr. Coleman uses the latest state of the art surgical techniques in cataract and intraocular lens implant surgery. He was the second surgeon in Louisiana certified to perform laser cataract surgery using the LenSx system. Biography: Proud to carry on the family tradition of his father and uncles, Dr. Swearingen is part of a family of ophthalmologists. A Shreveport native, he earned a degree in zoology from LSU and his medical degree from LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport where he also served a residency in ophthalmology. Dr. Swearingen then became a partner in the Swearingen Eye Clinic, was founded by his father and his uncle. In 2010, Dr. Swearingen joined WK Eye Institute where he practices comprehensive ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Swearingen and his wife, Joanne, have been married for 28 years. She is a certified optician and manages, Optical Zone, an optical dispensary. They have four children: Joseph, a captain in the Marine Corps; Susan who works in the fashion industry in New York City; Sarie, a pre-school teacher in Nashville, and John Paul, a senior at LSU. He returned to Shreveport where he earned a medical degree from LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport, serving his internship and residency at the same institute. After establishing his practice at WK Pierremont Health Center, he opened WK Eye Institute in 2003. Dr. Shelby performs all his cataract surgery at WK Eye Surgery Center located at WK Eye Institute - North. In 2012 Dr. Shelby became the first surgeon in Louisiana to be certified to perform laser cataract surgery using the LenSx Femtosecond Laser located at WK Eye Surgery Center. He provides his cataract patients with the latest advancement in cataract surgery using the LenSx laser along with Premium lens implants, reducing and possibly eliminating patients' need for glasses.
