Therefore I listen to them carefully and try to make them comfortable in their plan of care in the end. I put an emphasis on their understanding of their disease status, prognosis, treatment options, and how treatment works. I encourage them to fight their cancer, but I don't give them a false hope. I believe in miracles but I am also realistic. My role as their doctor is to provide the best available care and take them to wherever they want to go.
