Biography: Dr. Andrew Chan serves as Director of Minimally Invasive Scoliosis Surgery and Director of Neurosurgical Spine Research. In patient care, Dr. Chan specializes in surgeries for a variety of conditions, including spinal deformities such as scoliosis and kyphosis, spinal tumors, and degenerative spinal disease (affecting the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine). His surgical techniques range from minimally invasive to complex. Dr. Chan earned his medical degree at Columbia University's Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed his residency in the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). His additional training includes a fellowship in spinal deformity and minimally invasive complex spine surgery at Duke University. Dr. Chan is focused on improving spine surgical care via his research. He also prides himself on his patient care, having received the prestigious Howard Naffziger Award for Outstanding Clinical Service while at UCSF.
