Care Philosophy: Dr Sean Dineen is an Assistant Member of the Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center. Dr Dineen has a particular interest in the treatment of patients with metastatic disease, including carcinomatosis. In particular, he focuses on patients that have developed peritoneal spread of disease and the application of heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) in the treatment of this advanced process. Dr Dineen's research focuses on identifying how the tumor and the local environment interact to promote metastatic disease. Dr Dineen is a native of Lexington, KY. He earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville.

Care Philosophy: Dr Julian Sanchez is a colorectal surgeon in the Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center. He is Associate Professor of Surgery and Associate Professor of Oncologic Sciences at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. He is board certified in both general surgery and in colorectal surgery. Dr Sanchez's clinical interests include colon and rectal cancer, anal cancer, high resolution anoscopy, genetic cancer syndromes, and minimally invasive surgery. His research centers on HPV infection and associated anal cancer. He is especially interested in the progression of anal dysplasia in immunosuppression and in screening programs for high risk patients.

Care Philosophy: For patients undergoing surgery, whenever possible, Dr Malafa uses minimally invasive approaches. He's experienced at performing robotic whipple, robotic distal pancreatectomy, robotic colectomy and robotic liver resections. In addition to Dr Malafa's time in the clinic and operating room, he continues to work in research and is a Senior Member in the Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology and the Chemical Biology and Molecular Medicine Program at Moffitt. As a physician-scientist, he is enthusiastically investigating novel approaches to prevent pancreatic cancer and colorectal cancer.

Care Philosophy: Dr John Mullinax is an Associate Member in the Sarcoma Department and Immunology Department of Moffitt Cancer Center and Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. He is the Surgical Director of the Cellular Immunotherapy Program and the Associate Program Director for the Complex General Surgical Oncology fellowship at Moffitt. Dr Mullinax is board-certified in both Surgery and Complex General Surgical Oncology by the American Board of Surgery. Dr Mullinax's primary clinical focus is the surgical management of patients with soft tissue sarcoma throughout the body, to include retroperitoneal sarcoma and gastrointestinal stromal tumors.

Biography: Dr. Christian Cruz Pico, MD is a Complex General Surgical Oncology Specialist who practices in Tampa, FL. He is 45 years old and has been practicing for 22 years. Dr. Christian Cruz Pico, MD is affiliated with Tampa General Hospital and Tampa General Hospital.

Biography: Dr. Drew Rhodes joined our team in 2020 from the University of North Carolina. He is a general surgeon formally trained in the subspecialty of endocrine surgery at Yale University where he worked closely with Dr. Tobias Carling. As Dr. Carling says Drew is the best of the best and wherever I go, I want Drew at my side. He is one of the best surgeons I have ever met. After spending a week with Dr. Norman, he agrees Few surgeons have the hands that Drew has and after I saw him operate, I knew we had to have him on our team. Dr. Rhodes received his general surgery training at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Philadelphia prior to fellowship training at Yale. He had a decorated military career spending 5 years as a surgeon at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, DC. He was the Director of the Endocrine Center at HCA North Carolina for 4 years until joining the Dream Team in Tampa in 2020. Drew is married and has an 8 year-old boy and a 4 year-old girl.

Care Philosophy: Dr Daniel Anaya is a Senior Member, Chief of GI Surgery and Head of Hepatobiliary Section in the Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology, at Moffitt Cancer Center. Dr Anaya is a fellowship trained Surgical Oncologist with a particular focus on the surgical treatment of patients with liver malignancies (primary and metastatic) and neuroendocrine tumors. His academic interest focus on improving the quality of cancer care and implementing models to improve the delivery of care for patients with complex cancers. He is an expert in developing academic programs that facilitate delivery of the highest quality of care, while also provide a framework to support research and innovation in the field of cancer and surgery.
