Biography: Dr. Wimmer is a cardiologist at ChristianaCare. He is board-certified in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Wimmer is an honors graduate of Brown University with a bachelor's degree in public policy and biology. He earned his medical degree and completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia. After achieving his master of science in epidemiology from Harvard University School of Public Health, Dr. Wimmer completed fellowships in peripheral vascular and cardiac structural intervention, interventional cardiology, and cardiovascular disease at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Wimmer served research fellowships with Brigham and Women's Hospital division of Cardiovascular Medicine, the Sarnoff Endowment for Cardiovascular Science at Penn, and Howard Hughes Medical Foundation at Brown University. He is the recipient of an Undergraduate Excellence Award in Biological Sciences at Brown, Renal Research Prize for outstanding research in nephrology at Penn, and Richard Gorlin Fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine and Science at BWH. Dr. Wimmer has authored book chapters, abstracts, and articles published in peer reviewed journals including the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Journal and Journal of the American Heart Association. He has presented nationally and internationally at conferences and including AHA Scientific Sessions, the Harvard Clinical Research Institute Scientific Conference and European Society of Cardiology.
