He earned his medical degree from NYU School of Medicine and completed his orthopaedic residency at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital. Following his residency, Dr. Prasarn finished a Fellowship in Orthopaedic Trauma at the Hospital for Special Surgery. He then went on to complete the Louis A. Goldstein Spinal Surgery fellowship at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Additionally, he has been a visiting fellow at MD Anderson Cancer Institute. He has worked as a full professor and clinical surgeon here in Houston for the past 13 years.

He is a native Texan who was born in Galveston, Texas.He attended the University of Texas in Austin majoring in business finance and was recognized on the Dean's List each year until graduation. He performed his surgical training at Indiana University Medical Center before completing his anesthesia residency at Baylor College of Medicine. Additional specialty fellowships in spine care and pain management were completed at Texas Tech University Medical Center and Baylor College of Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology with additional subspecialty certification in Pain Management, and is board certified by the American Board of Pain Medicine.After training with leading international neurosurgeons, orthopedists and neurologists, he became a clinical professor at Baylor College of Medicine. While there, he established and was the director of the Interventional Spine Care Fellowship Program. In addition to current clinical duties, he continues to teach in the combined Baylor and University of Texas Spinal Surgery Fellowship Program.
