Biography: Born and raised in Chicago, Dr. Ranan Mendelsberg earned his B.S. and M.D. degrees from the University of Illinois at Chicago. After completing his residency in general surgery at Los Angeles County + University of Southern California Medical Center, Dr. Mendelsberg spent two years at the University of Oklahoma pursuing his fellowship in vascular surgery. During his training, Dr. Mendelsberg studied cutting edge minimally invasive endovascular and open surgical techniques, used to treat the full spectrum of vascular disease. A member of the AOA (Alpha Omega Alpha) Honor Society and recipient of multiple teaching awards by medical students, Dr. Mendelsberg has been recognized for his academic achievements. Biography: James C. Hayhurst is a native Texan, originally from Amarillo. He earned his undergraduate degree from Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina and his medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX. Upon completion of his internship and General Surgery residency at the University of Tennessee, he remained at the University of Tennessee for his fellowship in Vascular Surgery. He is board certified in both General and Vascular Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Following completion of his training, Dr. Hayhurst returned to his hometown of Amarillo where he served the community for 14 years. In 2011, he relocated to Dallas to be near his wife's family. He specializes in all aspects of vascular care for his patients, which includes non-operative/medical, open surgical and endo-vascular treatment of all vascular conditions. Dr. Hayhurst has been happily married to Debbie since 1988. They have 4 wonderful children and in his free time, enjoys being outdoors, fly fishing, skiing, cross fit, gardening and playing with his dog Ruby. He is also an avid musician and a member of a local bluegrass band.

Biography: Dr. Daniel Alfson was born and raised in North Dallas. After graduating from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Science degree in neuroscience with Honors and magna cum laude distinction, he earned his medical degree in 2013 from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He moved to the west coast where he completed his internship and residency in general surgery in 2019 at the University of Southern California + LA County Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. During residency, he dedicated a year to clinical research in trauma and vascular surgery, publishing a book chapter and contributing to several peer-reviewed journal articles. He relocated to the east coast where he completed a subspecialty fellowship in vascular surgery and endovascular therapy in 2021 at Boston Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts.After the completion of his comprehensive surgical education and training, Dr. Alfson moved back to the west coast where he worked for nearly three years as a vascular surgeon in a successful private practice group in Santa Barbara, California. During this time, it became clear that it would be best for him and his growing family to move back home to Texas.Dr. Alfson recently joined Vascular Care of Texas in 2024 with primary affiliation at Medical City Plano. He offers breadth of experience and innovation in technology for individualized treatment of all vascular conditions. Biography: Dr. Stephanian is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in both General and Vascular Surgery. He received his medical degree from the University of Southern California in 1987, and his surgical training under the tutelage of the renowned academic surgeon John S. Najarian, M.D. at the University of Minnesota in 1993. He completed his additional qualifications in Vascular Surgery at Baylor University Medical Center, and has been in private practice in Dallas since 1994. In 2001, he received an executive M.B.A. degree from Southern Methodist University. Dr. Stephanian has an extremely busy clinical practice of Vascular Surgery, with a special interest in varicose veins and venous surgery, as well as minimally invasive techniques for management of arterial disease.
