Biography: John E. Zvijac, M.D., is a fellowship-trained physician with dual Board-certification in orthopedic surgery and orthopedic sports medicine with Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute and a member of Baptist Health Medical Group, an organization of more than 18 physicians in multiple specialties closely aligned with Baptist Health South Florida. From 1998 to 214, he was head team orthopedic surgeon for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He is also a team physician for the Florida Panthers and Florida International University and medical director of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools high school athletics program. Dr. Zvijac specializes in sports medicine and surgery of the shoulder, elbow and knee. He has been in practice in South Florida since 2009. He joined Sports Medicine Associates of South Florida after completing his Hand, Wrist and Microvascular Surgery fellowship at the University of Southern California. At USC, he worked under an expert team of physicians and surgeons directly responsible for the care and treatment of the USC Trojans athletic teams. Dr. Shenassa grew up in Long Island, New York and attended New York University for his undergraduate studies. After NYU, Dr, Shenassa studied medicine in Haifa, Israel at the Technion Institute of Technology Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Cohen completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Maimonides Hospital in Brooklyn before moving to Miami for his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Interventional Pain Medicine with the Department of Anesthesia at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr. Cohen specializes in the treatment of spine and musculoskeletal pain, including neck and low back pain, hip, knee and shoulder pain, arthritis, tendon injuries, sports injuries, nerve pain, complex regional pain syndrome, and cancer pain, among other chronic pain conditions. Each patient receives an individualized treatment and management plan that is optimized to fit his or her unique needs. Dr. Blom completed a Fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at the University of Colorado. Prior to starting private practice, Dr. Blom spent 16 years in the United States Army. During that time he had been deployed many times to areas including Haiti, Central America, Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Dr. Blom Specializes in Adult Reconstruction which is a subspecialty of Orthopaedic Surgery that deals with degenerative conditions of the hip and knee; as well as arthritis, bone and joint injuries, muscle problems, joint stiffness, pain and sports related injuries.
