Biography: Laurie Buchwald WHNP, FNP received her Bachelor of Science from Radford University in Radford, VA and her Master of Science from Virginia Commonwealth University, formerly The Medical College of Virginia. She has worked in the OB/Gyn field for 35 years, in a variety of positions including Labor and Delivery, and the Ob/Gyn Emergency Department. Since 1995, Laurie has worked as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner in private practice.Laurie has served in many elected, appointed, and volunteer positions. She was a two term Radford City Council Member, was appointed by two different governors to the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulations, was a candidate for House of Delegates in 2015, and has served in several elected and appointed positions within the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners. She also volunteers with multiple civic organizations.Laurie is certified by the National Certification Corporation as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner and the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has been working in the New River Valley for 23 years, and welcomes new and returning patients, and referrals.When not working, Laurie enjoys spending time with her family, including her adult son who lives in Atlanta, and her friends. She is both a motorcycle and a photography enthusiast, and hosts a monthly book discussion group.
