Care Philosophy: I am a very conservative Neurosurgeon. In most cases regarding the spine, surgery should be the last option for a patient, unless there is frank motor weakness or failure of conservative management. It is also for patients to know that no surgery for the spine will alleviate 100% of pain and or functional deficits. Any surgeon that tells you that they can alleviate 100% of your pain with surgery is lying to you. I attempt to set realistic goals for my patients prior to surgery.
