Biography: A native of South Florida with South African roots, Dr. Glaun is dedicated to understanding his patients concerns and goals, while providing culturally sensitive and individualized care. Dr. Glaun graduated with honors from Florida State University and earned his medical degree from the University of Central Florida College of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. He trained within five hospital systems where he cared for privately insured, underserved and uninsured patients, as well as veterans. Dr. Glaun then completed a one-year fellowship in minimally invasive & robotic general and bariatric surgery at AdventHealth in Tampa, FL.Dr. Glaun is certified by the American Board of Surgery and specializes in general, foregut, and bariatric surgery. He treats a wide range of conditions such as obesity, reflux disease, hiatal hernias, abdominal wall/groin hernias, gallbladder disease, diverticulitis, colon cancer, hemorrhoids, soft tissue masses, and more. He utilizes cutting edge minimally invasive techniques, ranging from endoscopic, laparoscopic, robotic and/or open surgery to accomplish his patients' treatment goals. Dr. Glaun is an advocate for his patients. He strongly believes in timely communication with his patients' primary care and consulting physicians, ensuring strong teamwork and transparent communication to deliver the best individualized patient-care possible.Dr. Glaun is a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, American Foregut Society, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the American Medical Association. He has presented at multiple national research conferences and is actively involved in medical student and resident education. In his spare time, Dr. Glaun enjoys spending time with his family, going to the South Florida beaches, and playing ice hockey and tennis.
