Biography: Mark C. Callanan, Jr., MD, FAAOS, is a board-certified (American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery) orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in sports medicine. Additionally he has obtained secondary sports medicine certification from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, and he is currently a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (FAAOS). He treats musculoskeletal conditions resulting from injury, overuse, and arthritis, specializing in arthroscopic and minimally-invasive surgical techniques, which reduce post-operative recovery time and allow for an earlier return to work and play. He is also trained in cartilage restoration procedures, and the use and application of biologics to aid in injury recovery. Dr. Callanan completed his undergraduate studies at Michigan State University with a degree in Human Biology. Following his undergraduate work, he spent 2 years completing his master's degree at Boston University while actively working in the renowned Harris Orthopedics Biomechanics and Biomaterials Lab at Massachusetts General Hospital focusing on hip arthroplasty research. He further continued his education at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in Grand Rapids Michigan, where he was an elected member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He went on to complete his residency in orthopedic surgery at the prestigious Harvard Combined Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program where he was selected to be chief resident at Massachusetts General Hospital his final year of training. He then completed his formal education with a Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Fellowship at the Andrew's Institute in Pensacola Florida where he trained under the renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews and his highly skilled partners. The fellowship provided him with an immersive experience in operative and non-operative treatment of musculoskeletal conditions in many professional and collegiate athletes. His team physician experience included coverage of Auburn University football and athletics, the Pensacola Blue Wahoos AA Baseball Team, as well as some of the local area high schools. Dr. Callanan has published numerous scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, and is actively involved in several ongoing studies. He has authored a book chapter, presented his research at national and regional meetings, and has received awards related to his research and academic pursuits including the prestigious John Charnley Award. Biography: Dr. Mody received an honorary Bachelor of Arts degree from Central High School in Philadelphia, Pa., the second oldest magnet high school in the country. He then graduated summa cum laude from Drexel University with a Bachelor of Science degree with double majors in economics and management and double minors in psychology and biology. He completed his medical school at the world-renowned University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine before a five-year residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch. He specialized in spine with a combined orthopaedic and neurosurgery spine fellowship at the University of Texas and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Dr. Mody received board certification from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Mody has coauthored numerous scientific and technical publications for noted academic journals as well as presented and lectured at regional, national and international conferences. Biography: Dr. Zibari graduated from the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences with his medical degree. His General Surgery internship and residency were obtained at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. Dr. Zibari then pursued his interest in abdominal solid organ transplantation through a fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where he also served as an instructor of surgery. He was recruited by the Department of Surgery at LSU Health Sciences Center Shreveport in 1993 to teach and work under his mentor, Dr. John C. McDonald, who was the founder of organ transplantation in this region. Dr. Zibari was a tenured Professor, Vice Chairman for the Department of Surgery for Academic Affairs, the Chief of the Division of Transplantation, and the Malcom Chair in Transplantation. He is currently the Director of John C. McDonald Regional Transplant Center as well as the Advanced Surgery Center, both located at Willis-Knighton Medical Center. He has authored and co-authored more than 125 articles in scholarly medical publications as well as reviewed the work of others. Also, he has co-authored and served as a co-editor of the textbook "Surgical Oncology: A Practical and Comprehensive Approach". He has spoken or presented papers at a variety of medical conferences throughout the world and has forged links with medical professionals in his homeland of Kurdistan, Iraq especially at the University of Duhok. Dr. Zibari continues to participate in humanitarian medical outreach in Kurdistan, Vietnam, Egypt, Nicaragua, and Honduras. Dr. Zibari is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of numerous organizations including the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, the American Society of Transplant Physicians, the Society of University Surgeons, the Southern Surgical Association, the American Heptao-Panreato-Biliary Association, the American Medical Association, and the John C. Additionally, Dr. Zibari has served as president of Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency (LOPA), Louisiana Surgical Association, American College of Surgeons – Louisiana Chapter, American Foundation for Donation and Transplantation, and John C. McDonald Surgical Society. Presently he serves as president-elect of the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association and as an American College of Surgeons Governor representing the state of Louisiana. He was elected as one of the best interns and residents by his peers at LSU Health Sciences Center Shreveport four consecutive years. Dr. Zibari was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society.
