Biography: I am a partner in the Fondren Orthopaedic Group. I am a board certified orthopaedic surgeon dedicated to providing exceptional orthopaedic foot and ankle care in the Houston area for the past 15 years. My orthopedic practice specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of foot and ankle problems. In preparation for this I have completed a 5 year orthopedic residency and additional year in foot and ankle fellowship training. This provided the opportunity for a broad based training and experience in the diagnosis and management (nonoperative and operative) of orthopedic and foot and ankle problems. As an experienced physician with more than 15 years of foot and ankle specialization in orthopaedics, I attempt to take a highly interactive approach to caring for my patients. I believe the most important aspects of providing quality care are listening to the needs of patients, providing patient education, and presenting all the treatment options to the patient. This includes nonsurgical and surgical treatments options. I believe that knowledgeable patients make the best decisions about their own treatment. That is why I explain every step of the diagnostic process. Next, I want my patients to understand their condition: how it developed and how various treatment approaches can improve or repair the problem. With each treatment options, I present a realistic outlook on the results we can achieve. I'll also be frank about any risks that might be involved. If a non-surgical option is available, I'll explain that avenue in depth. Biography: Rema Malik, M.D. is a Vascular Surgeon with Gulf Coast Vascular. Dr. Malik received her BA in Chemistry from North Carolina State University. She then went on to gain her Doctorate in Medicine from Ross University. Dr. Malik completed her General Surgery residency at North Eastern Ohio Medical University followed by a Surgical Critical Care fellowship with Wright State University. She completed her Vascular Surgery training at Wayne State University. Dr. Malik is triple board certified in General Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, and Vascular Surgery by the American Board of Surgery. She is a member of the Society of Vascular Surgeons. Dr. Malik has been a part of several publications, posters, and presentations throughout her career. She has been an instructor for the Fundamentals of Critical Care, is registered physician in vascular interpretation, as well as certified in advanced surgical skills for exposures in trauma.She has clinical interests in vascular and endovascular surgery, thoracic outlet syndrome, abdominal and thoracoabdominal aneurysm disease, carotid, brachiocephalic and upper extremity arterial disease, aortic reconstruction of aortoiliac disease, peripheral and mesenteric occlusion/aneurysmal disease, hemodialysis access, and venous disease.Dr. Malik is bilingual in both English and Urdu.
