Care Philosophy: Faraz Kerendi, M.D is originally from Los Angeles, California. He earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. His residency in general surgery and cardiac surgery fellowship were both completed at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Kerendi is board-certified in general surgery and thoracic surgery. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Heart Association, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery and the European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Dr. Kerendi has received numerous research and teaching awards and published multiple papers in the field of cardiothoracic surgery. Biography: Mark C. Felger, M.D. is a native Texan originally from Austin and earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He completed his general surgery internship and residency at Emory University in Atlanta and his cardiothoracic surgery residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He has practiced with Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons since 1997 and is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery as well as the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Felger specializes in all areas of adult cardiac and thoracic surgery including mitral valve repair, endovascular thoracic aneurysm repair and coronary artery bypass surgery. He currently serves as Director of Surgical Services at Heart Hospital of Austin. He is an active member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, the Southern Thoracic Surgical Association, Texas Transplant Society, Texas Medical Association and Travis County Medical Society. Dr. Felger has also composed and published numerous research articles in his specialty. He was recently listed as a Top Doctor in Austin Monthly based on peer endorsements, experience, education, training, research, publishing, and awards.

Care Philosophy: Eric M. Hoenicke, M.D. is originally from Midland, Michigan. He earned his medical degree from The University of Michigan School of Medicine in Ann Arbor, Michigan and completed his general surgery residency at The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA. Dr. Hoenicke is board-certified in thoracic surgery and completed his cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Dr. Hoenicke is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery and the Michigan Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. His areas of interest include transplantation, mechanical circulatory support (VADs), robotic surgery, video-assisted thoroscopic surgery (VATS), surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation, mitral surgery, arterial revascularization for coronary arterial disease and surgical treatment of thoracic oncology. Before joining CTVS, Dr. Hoenicke practiced with West Michigan Cardiothoracic Surgeons in Muskegon Michigan.

Care Philosophy: Medical mission work is one of his passions, and he has participated in numerous international trips to provide medical care to underserved populations. Recently, through his involvement with VOOM Foundation, he has traveled to Nigeria to facilitate the development of a cardiac surgery program and to perform cardiac surgical procedures for the local population. Biography: Stephen J. Dewan, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.A.C.C. is originally from Houston, Texas. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, he earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He completed his internship and residencies in general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He went on to complete a fellowship in pediatric cardiothoracic surgery at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Dewan has practiced with Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons since 1988 and is the President of the group. Dr. Dewan is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Cardiology. He founded the Pediatric/Congenital Cardiac Surgery Program in Austin in 1988 and served as Medical Director for fifteen years. He specializes in adult cardiac and general thoracic surgery with special interest in cardiac valve repair and replacement, minimally invasive techniques (including robotic training), adult congenital heart disease and cardiac arrhythmia surgery.
