Over 2 years ago, he helped establish the relationship between Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Doctors Hospital to improve the healthcare of student athletes. Dr. Hechtman also serves as a clinical instructor for physician assistants and athletic trainers at Barry University, Miami Dade College and Nova Southeastern University. He was a physician for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. He is a professor in the department of orthopedics at Florida International University's Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, clinical associate professor in the department of orthopedics and rehabilitation at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and a voluntary associate professor in the department of exercise & sport sciences at the University of Miami.
