Biography: Richard G. Rento II, MD, grew up in northern New Jersey before receiving his Bachelor's degree from Brown University in 1982. He earned his medical degree in 1986 from the Brown-Dartmouth Program in Medicine (Hanover, NH and Providence, RI). Dr. Rento did his general surgery and urology training at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL, at the McGaw Medical Center where, in addition to his clinical training, he spent a year as a research fellow in 1991 and was Chief Resident in 1992. For the past 25 years, Dr. Rento has been in private practice in southeastern Virginia where he served as Medical Director of Urologic Oncology at Riverside Cancer Care Center. Consistently, for the past fifteen years, including 2017, he has been listed as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor in Hampton Roads. In 2013, he was on the cover of Hampton Roads Magazine and voted the ``Top Urologist`` by his peers. He was a founding member of the Hampton Roads Prostate Health Forum dedicated to raising awareness and providing prostate cancer education in the community. He has a special interest in minimally invasive procedures, including laparoscopic and robotic surgery of the prostate, kidney, bladder, and adrenal glands while remaining involved in the diagnosis and treatment of all adult urologic disorders.
