We had a wonderful experience with Dr. Nelson. Not only did he thoroughly explain the procedures to be done, he made my son feel comfortable with the process. My son's surgery went smooth, and the office was very friendly and helpful. We would use Dr. Nelson again even though we have to drive near an hour to the office, we feel that the drive is worth it in comparison to using some of our more local specialists.

My daughter was sent by him for an x-ray, and I was told to call on Monday for results. By Thursday, doctor had still not returned my call, and I had called every day that week. He might be good at what he does, but he is non-responsive, and has lousy customer service skills. Unfortunately, he is in a medical niche where practitioner choices are slim, so we are stuck with him.

When I questioned Dr. Nelson about the necessity of the surgery he was recommending, he became quite flustered. I took my son to see another pediatric urologist at Boston Children's Hospital, who did a much more thorough exam and advised we wait until he turns a year old before thinking about doing anything.
