Dr. McDonough has been seeing my husband for cognitive issues. His staff ran tests for 3 years. After each test, Dr. McDonough met with us to go over the results. He had everything charted and graphed. He patiently answered all of our questions. He was kind and reassuring as we are going through a very difficult situation in life. We never felt rushed during our appointments. He gave us the time we needed to discuss and understand test results.

Professional and Efficient
Everyone was very polite and confident that they knew what they were doing. I did not feel put off or talked down to because I have some psychological problems. I was very nervous walking into their office, and felt very comfortable after meeting staff and Dr. McDonough. Dr. Hopper was also professional and objective in administering the tests. This is important for a valid diagnosis. They also accept and dealt with medicare, so I did not have to worry about this. Highly recommend.

Neuropsyscological Evaluation
Excellent service from Dr. McDonough and his staff. I needed a second opinion on a mental health condition and an evaluation of my current health fitness. Dr. McDonough and his staff performed a highly professional and thorough series of interviews, testing, and follow-up to create a detailed, fact-based report and rediagnosis of my condition. I could not be more pleased with how I was examined by Dr. McDonough and his staff. Dr. McDonough is kind, well-mannered, and a great listener. His staff tested me on motor-visual, attention and concentration, language functioning, memory, intellectual functioning, and psychiatric condition among other things. I was overall very pleased with the entire experience and the resulting report they prepared for me. Thanks, San Diego Neuropsychology!

Life changing care
My medical history is complex to say the least so I've had a lot of experience with medical professionals and, sadly, the unpleasant experiences had previously outweighed the good. I came to Dr. McDonough's practice to understand my 'wiring' better and to get assessed for any cognitive 'issues', specifically autism. Dr. McDonough did what so few other professionals did for me: he really listened and took on board what I was saying. The entire experience was so validating from start to finish and everyone I worked with at the center made it so. And when the assessments were over and the final report shared, Dr. McDonough made me feel like I could come back to him at any time with whatever follow-up questions I might have. He said that this was just the start of my journey to better understanding myself. He is of course right, and I'm grateful to have had his care and expertise to set me on my way.

My partner and I spent a total of $4000 here, out of pocket. We are 24 years old. We decided to come here so I could get evaluated by Dr. McDonough through a series of neuropsychological testing. I’ve been diagnosed with extreme anxiety all my life, but I wanted to get tested and evaluated for autism. Our first appointment was $600 if I remember correctly, it was basically a consultation where he reassured us the tests were very thorough and he would be able to give me the answers I needed, and he also promised to give my partner and I a clear explanation of his written report once the testing was over. After I completed the testing, and paid them the full $4000, their demeanor with us changed. It took Dr. McDonough 2 weeks longer than we were told to finish his report on me. So long that when we came in for our final appointment so he could explain his report, the report wasn’t even done. He gave us a basic verbal rundown of everything he discovered in the tests, but his wording was

We have been trying for my son’s entire life to be evaluated and get some answers only to be turned away. Thankfully we were seen and quickly evaluated and diagnosed by Dr. McDonough. He was great with my son, who really enjoyed being in his office and interviewed. I appreciate the care and patience he gives with children.

Very professional. He gave us a detailed report which can be used to assist speech/cognitive therapists in designing my wife's individual treatment (the home health care therapist was diagnosing and treating "on the fly"). I wish our doctor would have sent us to Mark sooner.
