Dr. Yvonne Efebera, MD

My husband was being treated on the 5th floor by Efebera and her team for Acute Myeloid Leukemia. The staff on the floor were always nowhere to be found, with up to 15 minute lead time for assistance. My husband received the 7 plus 3 chemotherapy which started his heart rate skyrocketing when resting. The staff did not note this as alarming and did not place him on a heart monitor. When requesting him be placed on heart monitor, the staff became extremely combative thus making the remainder of his stay a hostile environment. Nursing staff also placing false information in his chart as to who was in the room with my husband at time of conversation. When requested to have him transferred to a different hospital due to insurance reasons, instead of support we received aggression from Efebera and her team. My family will not be visiting Riverside for any form of treatment - especially cancer related. Beware.

My wife and I met with Dr Efebera and her staff and we felt comfortable. Dr Efebera sat down in from of me and explained my disease and the treatment she would recommend. I live 2 hours away from Columbus and was considering driving or possibly relocating to have my treatment done there in Columbus becuase I felt so comfortable and felt she was the best doctor for me but after discussing options she didn't recommend, for right now, to drive this far. I'm having my treatment done locally for the time being but Dr Efebera is still over looking my treatment and working with my local oncologist. The staff is very friendly especially Bridget and really treats and communicates very well is this difficult time. I would definitely recommend Dr Efebera and her staff. Thank you.

Dr. Efebera is the best oncologist. From day one when I first met her, she explained Multiple Myeloma to my husband, my sister and myself to where we understood it and explained the study that I could participate in, in detail. I love her and sad that she is no longer at The James.
