He performed open heart surgery with three bypasses. We could not ask for a better surgeon. Bed side manner excellent. Very caring treatment of whole family.

I am so thankful for Dr. Boyd. He performed minimally invasive heart bypass surgery on me on Feb 8, 2024. Dr. Boyd clearly explained the surgery needed to me, my wife, and son. From the moment we met him we knew I was in extremely capable hands. He never seemed rushed when visiting after surgery and answered all of our questions taking time to be sure we understood. The robot assisted surgery he performed allowed me to leave the hospital on the 5th day. We thank God for leading us to Dr. Boyd!

My husband was admitted to ECU Heart Center on 6-12-23 due to multiple blockages found on the heart cath. It was very unexpected news for us and we didn’t know any of the physicians or surgeons there. After finding out that my husband needed to have bypass surgery, Dr. Boyd came to our room to talk about what needed to be done and ask if we would be okay with him doing the surgery. I had lots of questions, one of which was asking for his full name. He read my mind and told me he knew I was going to look him up on google, and he was exactly right!! And what I found and read about him let me know that he would be the only one we wanted to do this surgery. He took the time with us to answer so many questions we had and set our minds at ease about so much. His care through the whole experience was way more than what we could have ever asked for. He is an excellent surgeon and doctor, who sincerely cares for his patients. He saved my husband’s life this year and I’m truly grateful for this man!

Good experience

On January 11, 2023 a heart catherization revealed 80-95% blockages in three main arteries in my heart. We met with Dr. Douglas Boyd. My wife and I were very impressed with him as he explained how important is was to go forward with bypass graph surgery. He was very caring, professional and soft spoken as he explained the procedure in detail. We felt comfortable with the decision to go forward with the much needed surgery. We were very impressed with Dr. Boyd and his team. Everyone did an excellent, first class job. My surgery was on January 13, 2023. Every aspect of the procedure and my recovery could not have gone better. I was scheduled to be discharged in 7 days, but was able to recover so well the time was shortened to 5. I will always be thankful to our Heavenly Father for the amazing work Dr. Boyd and his staff did to repair my serious heart condition. It's now been 8 weeks since the surgery and I feel so much better. No more angina! HalleluYAH!

Dr. Boyd is an outstanding heart surgeon and performed my open heart surgery/ mitral valve repair flawlessly, with a minimal scar and quicker recovery time. As well as being very talented, he has a great bedside manner and took the time to explain all the different possibilities to me. I am incredibly pleased with the outcome of my surgery.
