Title says it all. I had only a few moments with the doctor. It was a pointless waste of time. Perhaps doc is overworked? After visit, I had to ask 3 different people where I go for testing. I received 3 different answers.

Unprofessional and lack of communication
Staff was dismissive and her assistant was completely clueless. I got my diagnosis (or lack thereof) via voicemail and was given no guidance as to how to proceed. Whoever left the message - Lewes, Louis, who knows - also had no clue nor direction for me to go. After double checking my doctors note - I found that the assistant misspoke and said that I had a disease when in reality the doctor said I did not. Completely unprofessional and will not be returning.

After many years of being misdiagnosed by other doctors I saw Dr. Patel for the first time and immediately was impressed by how extensive her questions were and how much time and care she put into the tests and examinations needed and required to come up with a diagnosis. I was finally diagnosed by Dr. Patel with a condition that had been bothering me and remained undetected for many years. I was so impressed by the level of care and concern from Dr Patel. She thoroughly listened to all my story and my symptoms. Her sincere compassion and willingness to discuss what I’ve googled and/or crazy questions regarding my condition really has endeared me to her. During the height of the pandemic, she showed her concern, always telling me that I needed to be careful because I was immunocompromised. She has always been in my corner, especially when dealing with insurance and their red tape. I am truly grateful that I am under her care.

Beware of a doctor that is afraid of you getting a second opinion. I have an extremely unusual case of gout. My PCP suggested that I get a second opinion from another rheumatologist. Long story short, the practice that Dr. Patel is a part of would not allow me to make an appointment with a second doctor in the same practice. After I made the appointment for a second opinion, she did not return my phone call. Her office never called me with the results of my blood tests and I always had to chase the results down. I am now under the care of a new rheumatologist. In fairness to Dr. Patel, my new rheumatologist changed my treatment only slightly but it is making a big difference.

i am not certain about my diagnosis-i was given large amount of steroids and became confused to the point of being unable to put an electrical plug into a wall outlet-each time i went for a follow-up appointment, i reported that i had difficulty breathing and my heart was pounding strongly-these issues became worse and i reported them each time to Dr Patel- nothing was done-i became totally disabled + was hospitalized 2 times + spent several weeks in rehab-i had PCP pneumonia-due to high steroid

I came to her presenting with myriad symptoms, the mildest of which were dry eyes and mouth. She ran blood work and said nothing was wrong. I have since been to Cleveland Clinic where a skin biopsy revealed profound small fiber neuropathy and a lip biopsy came back positive for Sjögren's syndrome. Patel only tests SSA and SSB antibodies, which 30-70% with Sjogren's don't have. She didn't even test for the early novel antibodies. Clearly not up to date on current research in her field.
