Never
For one they never answer the phone. You have to leave a message and if they call you back in 24 hour your one of the lucky ones. So if you miss the call you have to call back and leave another message. So it take 2-3 days to get answers or paperwork from the office. The doctor says they are instructed to not to answer the phone during business hour because they are short handed. So the patients have to suffer.

Worst Healthcare Service
If I could have put negative stars I would. Poor customer service all around. Never ever ever answer the phone or fax. This place should be shut down.

Professional, knowledgeable, kind, caring.
I have been going to Dr. Pennington for two years. She has always been cordial, professional, and thorough. She's no nonsense because dealing with pain management she has to be. She's got rules she's got to follow. It's not rocket science; follow the rules and you'll be fine. Most of these negative comments are from those who messed it up for themselves and are angry that there were consequences. I'm retired from nursing so I know a good M.D. from a poor one. She is the best.

Just My Personal Opinion Only
I have been with several pain management Dr thru the years. Short story I have been in 2 trauma accidents, flown by lifeline heli to Sentara trauma. 18 reconstructive surgeries. This past year had 2 more back surgeries, next year will have 2 more if my blood clots do not come back... so i am no rookie of the old days when there were no pain doctors and I could call my surgeon or family doctor and get a prescription. Very simple. Based on honesty... Now today things are very complicated, and Dr Pennington out of the 3 pain doctors I have been too, is the most fair, respectable, and sensitive to my needs. I fully understand that todays world is so complicated with 300 people a day dyeing from fentanyl, and the abuse of the past pill pushers. But I have to say there is no perfect pain doctor or even person out there. In todays world being personal in the medical field; due to in my opinion, the amount of clients they see. But she been the most fair to me of the 3

Horrible, unprofessional and inhumane!
Horrible horrible horrible! Please find someone else to see. I had to cancel an appointment bc I had Covid. I did t want to, because I knew it would take at least a week to get a return phone call and at least a month to get back in if I canceled. I didn’t have a choice. I called and of course, no answer. Left a voicemail. The day of my appointment I got a call asking where I was. I told them I had called 3 days ago to cancel bc I tested positive for Covid. I was told I would be called back to reschedule and that I will be charged the $50.00 fee for canceling. I said did you want me to come in here while I was sick? I was being courteous by canceling bc I didn’t want anyone to get sick! I never got a return call to reschedule. Luckily I found a wonderful doctor who I am so grateful for. Funny thing is, I received a text stating my next appointment with her is in a couple days (almost a year after they told me they will reschedule me. This place is a complete joke!

Pain Management
I suffer with Musculoskeletal Disorder do to being hit by a car when I was 20 and now am 73 and have had approximately 25+surgeries, a whole lot of therapy, and pain meds. Do to the Covid-19 and opioid crisis I could not get anyone to hear me concerning my chronic pain. Until I found Dr. Pennington and bless her heart, she gave me my life back. I am no longer just sitting around suffering in so much pain and having others do my chores, I am cutting my own lawn once again, working on my pool and able to get in it again. I am now able to take care of the things I was having to depend on family and friends for, Thank you Dr. Pennington

Dr. Pennington and her staff are close to impossible to talk to on the phone,, You have several options to leave a message and regardless of what option you chose, no one ever calls you back. I went without my pain meds for 2 weeks and still never heard. And this was after having a teleconference call with Dr. and she said the Rx's would be sent to the pharmacy, The staff is rather stand offish and not friendly. If you want a doctor who takes time to talk with you and ask you if your pain regiment is working and if you want someone to be able to reach by phone with a question or concern,,,,, this would not be the office to chose.

They keep their office door locked which is a violation of the ADA Section 404; VBMC Fire Code 13VAC5-63-245 which is a serious violation. US Department of Justice ADA Compliance Department and VB Fire Marshals Office. An ASTM e84 rated. VA DHP will receive a formal complaint.

Arrogance and impunity....As a hearing impaired elderly patient, I need assistance. This office staff is rude and unwilling to allow my caregiver to assist me in my appointment. I pleaded with them that I need assistance and I was told they have an in house Covid Policy and only the patient can attend the appointment. Not to mention that we had been waiting an hour past our appointment time to get this rotten service. Read all these reviews...these people are as hateful as these reviews indicate so don't waste your time here.

Dr. Pennington is an amazing Doctor! She’s compassionate and caring. She manages my pain and has been for years now. Her staff is friendly and helpful. I would recommend her 100 percent and I have. I don’t understand ppl complaining about wait time. It’s a doctors office. These days you’re going to have to wait at most doctors appointments, dmv, bank, store, everywhere pretty much. Ppl need to not be so petty and easy and quick to complain. This doctor is amazing and you would see for yourself when you meet her and her staff

Be afraid....be very very afraid! If you question or ask for an actual examination.... you will get “the letter”. She totally missed an ex-ray result and I made the mistake of calling her out on it. I told her twice what it was, but she ignored me. On top everything that is wrong with my back , you can add scoliosis to it. Her nurse then called and said that I had morphine in my test!! That is a lie and ridiculous. I am allergic to to morphine to begin with and where would I have even got it from? I tried to get the actual results but I couldn’t. Not even from the testing sight itself. As soon as I can find another doctor to help me, I really think that she should be brought before the board. She actually told me that for her to do any more for me or my pain, I needed to develop cancer.

If I could leave “0” stars I would. Staff is rude, dr is rude and she shows no compassion for you as a person or a patient. You wait for hours in waiting room and then get rushed through. I was fired as a pt because my urine came back negative like I wasn’t talking my meds. She accused me of selling my medication!! I was horrified!! I couldn’t make it through the day without them. It was discovered that the lab was in error and the results were corrected. However, she said she still couldn’t believe if the lab was correct. 2nd urine test confirmed I was indeed taking my meds as instructed. She still fired me from her practice. I have never been treated so poorly. In the long run, it was a blessing because I am seeing a much better dr now who truly cares about me and treating my debilitating disease. Please look elsewhere for a your pain management.

Why does her staff feel the need to be rude to patients.? I was surprised when the answering machine said not to leave the same message twice. The next week, when my call was not returned, I understood. I was threatened by a staff member who said if I did not agree that I had failed to answer my phone (I held up my phone to show I hadn't been called) that she would cancel my appointment after I waited over an hour. This is not a good place. No real examinations. Be careful here. No stars
