Excellent surgeon and team!
I had Cervical fusion in October and Lumbar fusion o late January. Both went extremely well! I have been in pain for 38 years and had 7 microsurgeries in the mid 80s.Reading the negative reviews, please understand that he can’t fix everyone and that every surgery won’t be successful! He won’t work on you if there is a high chance of failure, get another opinion! Todd, his PA Brad and nurse Rita were awesome! My pain has been reduced and with exercise, I fully expect to reduce my need for opioids.I can’t thank them enough!

What was he thinking
Dr. Vogel performed surgery on July 18, 2023 to correct lumbar scoliosis and stenosis by the fusing of L3-L5 and revising L5-S1. After surgery, i was disappointed to learn that there was no remediation made to the scoliosis, the doctor did not place the appropriate spacing hardware at L3-L4 that would relieve leg pain, and the screws were not properly located at L3-L4 so it never fused. The result was lots of pain. The surgery was successfully corrected eight months later by another surgeon. I wish I had seen the other surgeon first!

Upon arrival Todd saw me for just a few minutes. He told me my results and said that there is nothing he can do for me. Knowing that a year before I was in a wreck and already had 2 shoulder surgeries done. I asked him if I would just have to deal with the pain and he said yes. He left me and my wife in total shock. I went for a second opinion and was able to have a spinal fusion a couple weeks later. Todd has little to know compassion, and he judges you from the moment we walked in the door. I would never recommend him to anyone. I talked to the staff about his behavior, and they said what you see is what you get. Terrible experience and terrible doctor.

I am now pain free
I highly doubt I would be alive today were it not for the excellent skill of Dr. Vogel. The pain was so intense, so unrelenting I didn't know how I could go on living much longer. I had seen numerous physicians of various specialties for over 5 years. After changing my primary care physician she had an idea of what was causing my intense pain and said I needed to see a neurosurgeon for an evaluation. Dr. Vogel found the problem - a bone spur on a vertebrae that was compressing a major nerve. Today I am 99% pain free, am able to walk without agony and have my life back. I am so grateful to him and the team at Great Lakes Neuro. Highly recommend Dr. Vogel.

In November of 2019 Dr. Vogel sent my son home to die after he had been in an auto accident and had suffered from a traumatic brain injury. Dr. Vogel had put multiple drains in his head to relieve the bleeding and swelling in his brain but then decided there was nothing left to do. After two weeks of being home my son started responding again. I quickly took him back to Toledo, Ohio to his original surgeon and he put my son's skull back in his head. As of April 29, 2020 my son is alive and doing great! Dr. Vogel is a non-caring, chauvenistic surgeon that gave up on my son without even recommending or thinking that putting the skull back in was what my son needed. I would never recommend him to anyone.
