Dr. Ted Shen, MD

For the first two years I was seeing Dr. Shen, things were good. He performed a full thyroidectomy on me and was managing my thyroid medication thereafter. There was a minor complication with my surgery which resulted in me losing half of my parathyroid glands. Dr. Shen worked quickly to treat my symptoms while we were waiting on the diagnostic tests to confirm this and was able to resolve my issues within a week. I was grateful for his candidness and dexterity to alleviate my suffering rather than having me wait in pain on test results to start treating the problem. But off and on for years after, I’d have these issues with my breathing that nobody was able to figure out. In addition to issues breathing, I had consistent heart palpitations, trouble falling and staying sleeping, tremors, and chest pain. I’ve been to the E. R. 6 times for these issues in the past two years due to their severity. In the past, these symptoms usually subsided within a week or two and always began around

When I was in Dr. Shen's office, he raised his voice and got on me, accusing me of being hard of hearing, and did so in a demeaning way. Isn't that one of the areas he treats? He didn't like me interrupting him once he decided the proper treatment for my coughing. I did tell him he seemed very crabby. I left feeling upset. I will say that the prior visit to Dr. Shen went well, and I liked him.

I saw him for about three years, he had been the most unhelpful doctor that I have, very cold, arrogant and brushed off all my problems. I didn’t know what I’ve been missing until I started seeing another ENT. Stay as far away from him as possible.

I told him my throat felt a bit hoarse, and I couldn't speak well. I was also coughing, but he insisted that my throat and everything was normal. Within two minutes, he brushed me off. Two days later, I developed a fever and went to urgent care. The doctor there diagnosed me with the flu. Dr. Shen was very irresponsible. The receptionist, an Asian lady, was also very unprofessional.'

I originally went to see another surgeon to remove my thyroid due to cancer. I had complete trust in him as soon as I met him, but he was no longer performing surgeries and referred me to Dr Shen. I usually have a lot of trepidation when meeting new doctors, but as soon as we shook hands, I had an overwhelming sense of calm. I knew I was in the right place. He explained everything that was going on and what my options were.He performed my surgery and when he came in to check on me afterwards in my room, he spent a little extra time making sure I was recovering well. My follow up appointment showed that I was free and clear and told me that he would be monitoring me to adjust (if need be) my medication that I will need to take for the rest of my life.I cannot recommend Dr Shen enough.

I haven't met Dr. Ted Shen but their front office was kind to let me konw that they dont deal with turbinate transplants/implants or MSC injections to save my time. They were even more kind enough to share that checking university hospitals may be better option for Empty Nose Syndrome issues. How nice of them! That is something I call sincere and professional.

This doctor was condescending and dismissive from the start. Telling me that the problem is in my brain not my ears, even though I told Jim I've had pressure, a ringing and clogged feeling in my ear for many months. And though my hearing test showed hearing loss, he said I should try my best to ignore the discomfort. Later diagnosed with a disease by a reputable ENT in Burbank.

I had heard good things about him so I thought he may have been a good choice for a reliable ENT. I couldn’t have been more wrong!! This man has the character of a lying slimy coward and shouldn’t be trusted to trim a dogs toenails. The real ENT in this area is Dr Steven Battaglia. Mr Shen is as useless as wet toilet paper and will try to get you into surgery asap so he can make as much money as possible. Aside from his incompetence as a surgeon, he is also a lying little pipsquike and would be more suited to work as a janitor cleaning toilets where the worst he could do is to screw up on a toilet instead of your face. Be forewarned and seek out the real ENT so as not to be a victim of Bozo Shen!!

Not good. He only see me for 3 min. And said no problem. Go home. I paid $60 for co pay and did not get anything and he did not even solve the problem. Still dizzy all the time . So rude and cold person. Bad bad person. Never go to him. Just want my money.

This doc rushed me out of patient room before hearing all my problems

At first, we got off to a bumpy start He may not be the easiest person to get a long with at first, but i will give him credit where credit is due. My surgery went well, he was attentive post op and he was great at explaining my problem to me and the risks and benefits of the surgery. His staff is nice and his office was clean. He took time to answer all my questions and went over my prognosis again to refresh my memory. I would recommend him, but I'd give caution. He's definitely the boss.

Incredibly rrogant and condescending. I experienced a singular event that instantly damaged my left ear causing chronic tinnitus. He dismissed my story and told me that the two things were unrelated. He was barely took the time to speak with me, told me there was nothing that could be done, yet had me in for a follow up visit, told nothing again and again billed my insurance, but good both times. Subsequent visits to other ENT's confirmed that the incident was likely the cause of my tinnitus.

HORRIBLE person. Dr. Shen seems like he has a personality disorder -- he completely lacks empathy and is cold, rude, and abrupt to his patients. He was unprofessional during my visit (talking about me outside the exam room with several nurses) I would rather go to a doctor with lesser credentials but a bigger heart.
