Hysterectomy
Dr Shipman is absolutely amazing in every way. I started having issues about 5 years after menopause. Ii am 56, and I was worried by the symptoms I had, and my family history. It turned out that I had many fibroids, 4 the size of an egg. Surgery went well, as did my first follow up, my final one is next week. She was so kind, sympathetic, and knew exactly when I needed to hear something funny. I had zero anxiety about my surgery. I would recommend her to anybody!! She’s fantastic, as is her entire staff! So grateful that two of my SILs recommended her.

Thorough, gentle, empathic and patient
After having seen Dr. Shipman, I wouldn't go to any other OBGYN. She's thorough, kind, gentle and reassuring and she lets you know what she's going to do before doing it so there are no uncomfortable surprises. She has taken appropriate steps to keep her patients safe during Covid and ensure the health and safety of her staff as well. She knows her area of practice, takes the time to answer questions and clearly cares about her patients. I have had nothing but excellent experiences with both her and her staff and highly recommend her.

Lacking Situational Awareness
There is some degree of my logic that believes she is being nice, but after my last visit I just think she lacks situational awareness. It’s a constant conversation about my weight, almost as if I haven’t noticed myself. Clearly I have since I appear to be visually upset every time she talks about it. I understand she’s very fit, but not everyone is a triathlon athlete. I’ve also discussed side effects of birth control such as my hormone imbalance and she implied that I shouldn’t read everything I see on the internet. Absolutely changing doctors for next years pill renewal. I hope she reads this because like I said, I want to believe she has good intentions, but need her to understand how she makes people feel.

I went to Dr. Shipman for years without many issues. It wasn’t until I finally told her about all the pain I was in every month did I encounter an issue. I told her how bad my cramps were and how they were increasing with every passing month. She literally waved her hand at me and told me that I was wrong and didn’t have cramps on my period and that it was just me “being human.” I tried again before she walked out the door to tell her that it was really bad and she still didn’t take me seriously. I was in the ER a month later with excruciating pain. I made an appointment with a new doctor who did an ultra sound because he said my pain wasn’t normal. And We found a cyst in my ovary. Surgery a month or so after that showed me having endometriosis. Something that could have been brought up had Dr. Shipman actually listened to me and not waved her hand in my face as if I was stupid. My male doctor has more empathy and sympathy than that woman ever had.

Several mistakes when speaking to me over the course of two pregnancies. Asking questions that did not apply to me or my situation. No clear answer on severe complication " these things just happen " was answer given. No further explanation given after questioning. Staff who brings to room asked how baby was after having a stillbirth. Too many patients, obviously. Too many doctors. Patient sharing, probably not a good idea. Will be seeking another obgyn.

Dr. Shipman is great. HOWEVER, her staff and management team is HORRIBLE. I have never been seen at the time of my appointment and they are insanely rude. If I wasn't having a baby in a month- I would switch doctors just for the fact that her staff is that terrible. WORST SERVICE EVER.
