Dr. Steven Shotts, MD

It struck me that the doctor spoke and understood Spanish very well, I am Cuban and I still don't speak English well... so the first appointment was successful.

My first appointment with Dr. Shotts was a great experience. it was all that I expected. I think he will be able to get to the bottom of my problem. I did not feel rushed and he answered all my questions. Only complaint is that he filled two prescriptions for me, and I was only aware of one to be filled I want my medicines to be explained to me.

Abrupt and rushed through the appointment.

My doctor sent me to an allergist to test for food allergies. I paid a $50 copay to be belittled in the most condescending way and basically refused diagnostics because he was convinced I was wrong about having food allergies. I guess I’ll never know for sure. He seemed legitimately angry I was there and I don’t understand why.

Had an excellent response to my symptoms & MRI. However it seems that he’s rushed and I left and realized I had more questions regarding the new prescription & how my current medications & such might be effected. And it seems, unlike my Primary Care Doctor, there is no way to communicate after a visit when you have additional questions. Their APpatient App doesn’t give you the ability to send a message with non-urgent questions.

I thought the doctor was excellent, in fact I don't speak much English and he was on his side and helped a lot with that and of course he resolved what he sent me for my problem I think it's a 100

I greatly appreciate Dr. Shotts professionalism and his advice. I am a healthier person because of his care.

Dr. Shorts knew what he was doing but was incredibly rude! Checked his watch twice during my 5 minute visit, rolled his eyes when I asked if there were any other treatment options, and spoke in a condescending tone like I was a child. I will not be returning to see him!

Listened to my concerns, did the appropriate tests to rule out everything it could be, diagnosed my issue, prescribed a medication and I’m on the mend!!

Dr Shotts told me I was " not really " feeling pressure in my ear because it "looked fine". (Yes, I was definitely feeling ear pain!) When I flinched as he put the scope up my nose (and explained that I have claustrophobia /fear of anything right up in my face) he armchair diagnosed that I should "get some therapy because I didn't understand reality". He made other comments disrepecting my intelligence and spoke to me as if I were 8 years old. I'm a senior citizen with a Master's degree in a science field. I can't speak to his surgical skills which might be great...but his bedside manner needs improvement and caused me to cancel further appointments with this practice

Saw Dr. Shotts for hyperparathyroidism (similar to Marxism but less deadly). He performed surgery and left an ugly 3" scar. As I understand it, Vanderbilt does minimally invasive surgery that leaves a smaller scar and heals more quickly. If so, I would suggest that Dr. S learn how to do that.

He was thorough and informative and good bedside manner - cleaned out my sons ears and moved us along quickly and efficiently!

This was my first time visiting this office. When I entered, before I even reached the front counter someone yelled out "birth date!" I realized the staff member was talking to me. When she figured out I was on the wrong side of the office, she said "you have to go to the other side" and turned around. I had no idea where I was going. When I finally arrived on the right side of the office, the same thing happened; "birth date!" very loudly was yelled and the young lady had a terrible demeanor. There was never a "hello", "hi, nice to see you", nothing. Very, very rude staff. Once I was called back to the exam room, all of the staff, audiologist and physician were cordial. The physician was adequate in conversation and information, however, he didn't really seem to care about my situation. I will not return.

I have been a patient of Dr Shotts for several years. He is very knowledgeable and always has patient’s interest at heart.

Dr Shotts cares and has the knowledge to be so helpful and kind. Thankful for him and his practice.

Dr. Shotts listens and takes time to explain the course of action. He was recommended by our pediatrician. He’s wonderful!

Shotts seemed like he had no time, nor did he care about my symptoms. Was condescending, and curt, provided no opinion or insight. I saw no signs of any bedside manner, nor do I feel my condition is being dealt with competently. I’ll finish out with further tests at the same office, only because it took 3 weeks to get 5 min of his time. But I’ll be trying to find someone else. I feel my visit was a waste of my time.

Dr.Shotts has great bedside manner and explains your condition in words that 'normal folk' can understand. My thyroid surgery was flawless.

He is the best doctor that I could choose for both my kids. Very attentive and respetfully. Always giving me the best advice for my children to stay healthy. I couldn’t choose better.

I love the office and see another doctor in the office. My doctor was unavailable so they squeezed me in with Dr. Shotts, first he made me wait for over an hour. Then disregarded anything I said or tried to explain and just talked over me. I have an autoimmune disorder that affects my salivary glands which is what I am treated for at this same office. He looked at me for a second and told me I have TMJ from sleeping wrong. He asked if anyone has ever told me that and I said absolutely not because I do not have TMJ. He also told me he’s a great doctor and that basically I didn’t know what I was talking about. If you are interested in being gaslighted at the doctor then he is your guy! He has horrible bedside manners and clearly is not educated enough in anything besides TMJ.
