Dr. Steven Fitzgerald, MD

I came to see Steven Fitzgerald almost 2 years ago to this day .I needed hip and knee replacement.He told me he couldn't do anything for 5 mos.I came back then he couldn't do it then and gave me a shot in my knee and it did nothing.I came back not walking now I'm in a wheelchair and he tells me again he can't do anything for 5 mos out.I never had an operation.I trusted Steven Fitzgerald and he didn't help me at all in 2 years of coming to him.I guess if your Black he won't help cause I had insurance and I received no help from Steven Fitzgerald.Now I have to find another doctor and now I'm in a wheelchair when I first came to him I was walking and he spente me for 2 years.

Unfortunately, I had a terrible outcome after my total hip revision surgery December of 2023 with Dr Fitzgerald. He managed to injury my femoral nerve resulting in severe quad weakness and pain with significant knee instability. I have had several falls because of this, the last one causing a disastrous ankle fracture which needed surgery to repair. I can only hope to return to work and my active lifestyle without any more pain and suffering caused by this surgeon. Zero stars would be more appropriate.

After waiting 2 months to meet with the doctor, I was looking forward to having all my Qs answered and feeling confident about moving forward with surgery. Instead, sad to say, Dr. F spent less than 5 minutes with me, did not make eye contact, stared at the x ray on the computer most of the time, and gave me a dumbed down, generic explanation about the hip joint, never giving details about my particular issue. He said nothing about the surgery, what to expect, recovery time, prognosis, etc. Nada. I have had more engaging interactions at a fast food drive thru window. I was shocked and deeply disappointed. Fortunately, I had another appt already scheduled at a different hospital system, so will get a second opinion and hopefully a better experience. Maybe he was having a bad day, but if he could not show more interest and enthusiasm during the consult, why would I expect his A game on the day of surgery? Very off putting.

I went through the traveling surgery program. Dr. Fitzgerald and his team were very well orchestrated, very coordinated, and professional. He answered all my questions clearly. He did an excellent job of completing the replacement, leaving a very small incision area and putting me back together with a minimal amount of scaring. As one who has always had issues with scaring, his work is greatly appreciated.

Excellent surgeon. This was the most prepared I have ever been for a surgery thanks to Dr . Fitzgerald and the whole process University Hospitals has you go through.

Dr F was great in the office and answered all my questions. I thought I would see or hear from him post surgery but I was directed to his PA for some post op issues. It’s taking me longer than six weeks to fully recover and I still have pain.

The care I received by Dr. Fitzgerald and his team at UH was beyond excellent. This was the best surgical experience I've ever had. They made sure I was fully prepared by doing preop classes where they provided all the medical equipment I would need post op and answered any all questions I had. The entire team was easy to reach for questions and they stream lined the prescription and refill process. I had my knee replaced and went home the same day after seeing physical therapy prior to discharge. They had all of my appointments scheduled and I knew what to expect in follow up. The incision is beautiful and the pain was well controlled. I can't say enough praise for the surgical skill and kindness of the entire team. I'm back to work after only 6 weeks and I feel better than I have in years.

The expertise of all involved, the kindness, friendliness and overall personal interest of the whole team. These things are what mattered most to me. Dr.Fitzgerald and his team were very genuine in their concerns. Their explanation of procedures were clear and precise. I would choose Dr. Fitzgerald again for all of my orthopedic needs.
