Dr. Stephen Mechtler, MD

After my first few visits I was happy seeing Dr. Metchler. I was transferred to gym from Dr. Balti after she retired. My last visit included and internal exam when he decided to talk about politics. Regardless of what side I am on, this is completely unprofessional and unacceptable. It’s been about 5 years, but I’ll never forget it. Found a new ob that is easier to get an appt with and doesn’t talk politics.

I’ve been seeing him for over 20 years but now if you haven’t been to his office in 3 years you are considered a new patient. They won’t renew a prescription for a recurring UTI unless you make an appointment. He was the best of the best until he sold out. He’s probably going to retire soon so he did what was best for him. I’m a senior so I’ll stick to my OD doctor.

Dr. Mechtler has been my doctor for more then 3 years now. I have no complaints at all! He delivered both of my children without any issues. He is very knowledgeable, friendly and respectful. He has a funny sense of humor, always joking. I would recommend him to anyone.

I have been going to Dr. Mechtler for a few years now along with a few members of my family. We can all agree he is one of a kind and we absolutely love him. He jokes around to lighten the mood and makes you feel comfortable considering pap smears and other appointments are not much fun. I ended up getting pregnant and continued seeing him and Im hoping to continue going to him as long as he is working. He genuinely cares about his patients and I felt extremely comfortable with him delivering my baby and how quick he was at the hospital when it was time! I will forever love him as will my family as well!!

I started seeing Dr. Metchler when I was pregnant with my first son. I developed preeclampsia while pregnant. After delivering, I was sent home by Dr. Metchler, although my blood pressure was high. He hold me to take more BP meds - didn't tell me to go to ER. I followed my instinct and ended up in ICU on mag drip. Fast forward to baby number 2, I only stayed because I thought his PA Monica was there. She had left. He mixed up my chart and called me the wrong name. Couldn't remember that I had already delivered a child and had preeclampsia. He called my husband - not me to deliver results about a blood test. There's a lot more, but I switched doctors and I'm doing much better. The carpet is also stained when you walk in to the office which isn't very welcoming.

I believe my mother has attempted to leave a comment, however I don’t see hers yet. I have struggled with body image issues my entire life. The first time I saw Dr. Mechtler I had been starving myself and weighed the lowest I have ever weighed and you could see my ribs. The second time, my PCP encouraged me to gain my weight back so when I saw him I was 45 lbs heavier. He told me, “I wouldn’t gain any more weight if I were you because it looks like you’ve gained a ton.” This time, I was extremely nervous to go see him in the fear he would make a comment on my body, and because I have extreme anxiety around people touching this area of my body, as I’m sure many woman do. When feeling my abdomen, he laughed and said “Guess you like your beer don’t you.” I don’t drink and I said no. He then made a comment of “Well at least you’re not 300 lbs.” I work out three days a week, I’m a size 8/10, I can run 5 miles, lift 50 lbs with no sweat- but I guess I’m too fat.

I will never go and see Dr. Mechtler again. He pressed on my daughter’s abdomen and asked her if she liked her beer??? She was extremely anxious because she had never had a pap smear before and was shaking and crying already! She doesn’t even drink!! Not appropriate language when dealing with young women!! My daughter and I will be finding a new obgyn!

I moved to Buffalo two and a half years ago and I was very nervous about finding a new provider. My personal preference has always been to go to a single provider not a group, especially because I was expecting my first child. The thought of not knowing who would deliver my baby was not an option. Since then I have been a loyal patient of Dr. Mechtler. He has outstanding bedside manner. You can see he’s truly passionate about what he does and cares about each and everyone of his patients. I personally know about a handful of family and friends that swear by him. He successfully delivered my first born and now we are working together on baby number two. Oh and may I add he has a wonderful sense of humor. I definitely would recommend him!

I was put in an exam room and waiting nervously for results of a cancer screening test. After a half hour a worker came in and told me the doctor had to leave for an emergency. I asked if anyone in the office could give me the results, there was no one. I had to reschedule and wait another three weeks. Also the staff remind me of a bunch of high school girls, very immature and should not be working in the medical field.

I've been seeing Mechtler back when he was with Univera. I followed him when he left and opened his own office. He makes you feel relaxed with his sense of humor and he's pretty thorough and straight forward. I would recommend him to the young and not so old.

I love him! He was the best ob/gyn doc that I had and successfully delivered the last to children of mine. He is very kind hearted and compassion to his patients . He is the only ob/gyn that I would ever trust.

I absolutely love Dr. Mechtler. He delivered four of my children and he will now be delivering my daughters child. He cares about his patients and he’s friendly yet very professional. Awesome at what he does.

I would recommend Dr Mechtler to anyone young or old. I followed him from Like Lifetime Health while I was 7 months pregnant to his New office at Dent. He is a terrific caring person with a great sense of humor. My daughter who also has been going to him for 7+ years now are very pleased with him and his office staff.

Dr. Mechtler is a fantastic thorough doctor, he spends quality time having a conversation with his patient to ease them!

Dr. Stephen Mechtler is a kind of Doctor that knows how to communicate with his patients very well, and he has a sense of humor that is sure to make you feel comfortable, and relaxed during your visit. When he prescribe anything for your health he explains it, and he make sure you understands everything, even from my first visit to his office I knew that this was a good Doctor for me. He is one of a kind! Thanks Dr. Mechtler.

Dr.seems ok but office staff seems unorganized. It takes several days for Dr to get back to you if you ask a question. Duties for staff on vacation are not covered by other staff.

I had Dr.mechtler since I was younger he's wonderful and funny at times. He helped me with my high risk pregnancy.I would recommend him to anyone.
