Unfortunately I was wrong with my pick of Doctors I believe when I picked a doctor it would be someone who would actually care about me as a patient because those types I guess are hard to find you place your life in their hands and I guess I was just a number to herSo disappointed never again I am finding a new Doctor now

Several years ago Dr. Clark replaced the battery for my deep brain stimulator. I had a swift, easy recovery. Several weeks ago she replaced it once again. I had a reaction to something this time and developed a red, very itchy rash on the surgical site spreading to my neck. I was able to reach someone at her office and they said to take off the inner bandage. I did and the rash continued to spread. I was unable to reach her office after many tries.. Today I had an appointment which I assumed would be with the doctor - it wasn’t. I think it was with her PA who was very nonchalant about the reaction just saying you need some steroids and she hoped I wasn’t reacting to the stitches. No explanation of that remark until I questioned her.Dr. Clark is a very competent Neurosurgeon but I cannot recommend her after going through a difficult reaction and unable to reach her. Her PA said they’ve been having trouble with the phones - not a good thing for a surgeon.

Very personable. Spends the time that you need to understand diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, procedure, etc. came highly recommended as a very skilled surgeon. Listens! Answers. Keeps it real. Makes important phone calls herself vs getting a staff member to relay her message. Would definitely recommend. Downfall - office visits to Norfolk office can be very delayed! Be prepared to not be seen until at least an hour after your appointment time. Ugh

Dr Shannon Clark Sentara Neurosurgeon is outstanding. I had the essential tremor and had the non-evasive laser MIR surgery. My hands shook, I couldn't hold a cup of coffee, eat- it spilled everywhere. I am a web designer I couldnt type on the key board. The minute after the surgery, no more shaking. Dr. Clark, is patient, kind, listens, and believes in the patient, she believed in me . I trust her, she is a true professional . It is thanks to Dr Shannon Clark I have my quality of life back. Dr Shannon Clark is the best, Sentara is blessed to have such an outstanding Surgeon that cares about her patients, and most of all thanks to Dr Shannon Clark they get their quality of life back.

I would highly recommend Dr. Shannon Clark. I developed a meningioma (was told I could've had it for years) & needed to have it removed. We consulted our family practitioner (Dr. Anthony Hardt) & he recommended Dr. Clark. & she was great. She personally called me not long after Dr. Hardt explained my situation, putting me at ease. We scheduled the surgery & i came out well on the "other side". I was fortunate that the tumor was in a "favorable" spot!

Thanks to Doctor Shannon Clark I am able to walk today. My recovery from surgery was swift and almost completely pain free. I would most strongly recommend this fantastic, committed Neurosurgeon from our local Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital to everyone.

Dr. Clark really listened to me and had a nice office staff. She answered all my questions.
