I went to Dr. Rao after waiting months to get approved to be scheduled. It took months to get my paperwork submitted and approved. I live 8 hours away from Georgia, so my mom and I drove and stayed for a week for many, many tests to be run. I have had SIBO (and other issues) for 3 years. Dr. Rao is kind, patient, and brilliant at what he does. If you have motility issues, he is the best. My issue is with the follow-up. They are great when you are there, but then you feel like you are forgotten. I will continue to need to communicate with them as I have a diagnosis but will need to try differnt meds to get better. Overall, I am so happy I found him, but they need much better follow-up and communication. The staff is wonderful as well. Medical testing is expensive-that is what insurance is for. Want a proper diagnosis? you must pay for it.

After coping with an array of snowballing, unresolved issues for years (and seeing multiple specialists), I‘m now under Dr. Rao’s care. Although we’ve only had two in-person meetings, we’ve exchanged several correspondences, and I can already attest to the fact that Dr. Rao is a world-class diagnostician who demonstrates thoroughness, patience, and objectivity. He certainly isn’t one to toss around ‘cookbook’ diagnoses. However, once he has conclusive evidence, he also does not hesitate to share his findings/‘level with‘ his patients (while also extending both compassion and sympathy). FAIR WARNING: patients seeking sugar-coated realities need to look elsewhere because that is not his approach. Ultimately, I feel blessed to be under Dr. Rao’s care. His unparalleled experience, knowledge, expertise, and insight have-for the first time in years-given me hope for my own future.

It is hard to review someone on a single visit, however, here I will try: From the very first person I met in clinic I was put at ease. Then the nurse who escorted me to my room, the nurse that took over from there, the nurse who stuck me with that harpoon (jk) - the technician, the observing doctors and finally Dr. Rao --- all of these people made me feel like I was a regular customer at a coffee shop. Each of them was personable and polite, kind and professional. Each of them gave me the impression that I was indeed their number one priority while I was in their care and it made my procedure go smoothly and without having my nerves on edge the entire time. Before they did anything with me they first explained what they would be doing. How refreshing. I appreciate each member on Dr. Rao's team and will share my recommendation to your clinic with anyone asks me. I give a Five Star Rating with an A+ grade. Thank you, again. JR

Hi John, thanks for reviewing Dr. Rao and team!

I was diagnosed with Gastroparesis by Dr. Rau and everything I eat comes back up. * Dr. Rao never really tried to come up with a solution to fix the problem or figure out what caused the problem * He acted like it wasn't a big deal that I lost 30Lbs in 3 months and only weighed 95lbs * Seemed to be very smart but would not put forth the effort to fix the problem * Only wanted to see me every 3 months and would not return a call or message when I became very sick and his staff like him

Dr. Rao is the best GI doctor I have seen. He is very caring and compassionate. He is very thorough. Dr. Rao takes time to explain the diagnosis and he takes time to answer questions. I am very thankful for this doctor. I would not be alive today- Dr. Rao saved my life and has worked with me to have a better quality of living with a difficult disease.

Dr. Rao is a great great doctor. I like that he tries new remedies. And I've gotten great results. Unfortunately his calender stays pretty busy and on several occasions now I've had to wait up to an hour and a half past my appointment time. Doctor Rap gets a 10/10. Scheduling gets a 2/10.

If you have a GI problem that no one can solve do your self a favor and go see Dr. Rao. He is an expert in his field and helped me tremendously. Some of the tests are mildly painful, but that is a small price to pay for getting help. I traveled from Maryland to see him which was painful and difficult, but well worth it. I highly recommend him and his staff especially Nicki Schaffer.

I had a very poor experience with this doctor but my review has not been posted. This doctor schedules numerous and unnecessary tests.
