I saw Dr Cawthon while in the ER secondary to heavy menstrual bleeding and clotting, having been admitted by the ER. Dr Cawthon completely disregarded my symptoms, medical chart, and the ER doctor and attempted to discharge me after approx a 5 min conversation; she did not attempt to prescribe any medication to lessen the bleeding. I had to demand testing and scans (that the ER doctor authorized). That night, following her “visit”, I was bleeding through 2 heavy overnight pads every hour. It was the attending ER doctor who prescribed medication the following morning that lessened the bleeding. My scans that I requested, showed I had a large fibroid. Thankfully, the ER doctors were attentive and responsive and provided me with necessary care and a stat referral to an amazing OBGYN. However, I am stuck with a bill from Dr. Cawthon for services that were useless and downright harmful.
