I’ve had two surgeries with Dr Hester. He is an excellent surgeon, with a very good bedside manner. He listens to what the patient has to say. I like that.

Billing Fiasco
I waited a month for an appointment, and then the day before, I got a call that, with full coverage medical insurance, I had to pay $450 upfront for being a new patient. I have never heard of such a thing. When I asked why this would not be billed to insurance first and then a bill sent to me, she said, 'That's not how we do it here - I can cancel your appointment,' and she did.

Wonderful doctor!
Dr. Hester removed my thyroid years ago on the peninsula. This was a life changing experience for me. Dr. Hester was professional, kind and caring. I look at my scar and think of his words...you have a beautiful scar. I certainly do. It's called LIFE. Thank you Dr. Hester over and over again.

Dr. Hester is extremely honest, caring, and knowledgeable. He explained in detail exactly what my symptoms, diagnosis, and condition were. He worked with members across the interdisciplinary team to ensure I had the best outcome possible. As a nurse myself, being on the other side of the bed as the patient, was difficult for me- but I was immediately at ease with Dr. Hester. Using his years of experience, evidence-based practice, and laying out all options on the table for me, I was able to be apart of my care and make the most well-informed, educated decision. I can’t thank everyone in the office enough. I wouldn’t recommend any other ENT and I’m so blessed to have Dr. Hester and his team apart of my care. So appreciative, thankful, and blessed.

Gave Me a CSF Leak!
Had simple sinus surgery, he gave me a CSF leak, supposed to been repaired, went back into his office to complain multiple times, he kept convincing me it was impossible and he highly doubt it was still leaking. Low and Behold it was leaking. Extreme serious situation that was not given the proper care by CT Scans or Spinal Tap. .. Tread with Extreme Care!

This doctor didn’t educate me or send me to have scans done on a serious condition ! Years later had surgery and permanent hearing loss! This whole practice I wouldn’t go to for medical care ! Trust me when I say I was missed diagnosed from the beginning of my care. There are to many ENT doctors in this area , run from these providers !

He was a pretty decent doctor. No real issues with him, but his office does have a problem with billing. My son had full coverage insurance where there was no co-pay of any type. They still billed us $100 for a visit that should have been processed under the insurance, and I didn’t find this out until months later when the bill came in the mail.

This review of the Chesapeake Location on Independence Pkway They lie about their billing practice. Because they so scared a patient won't pay their bill they lied telling me to prepay for my visit which was $375 telling me they submitted the claim and that was my responsibility. It turns out they didn't submit the claim until 13 days later and Overpaid and now every reason under the son is being given on the delay of my refund. HORRIBLE BILLING makes you not even want to see the doctors

My health insurance has a 20% deductible. I was charged $40. tells me my cost would at least be $200.00, ridiculous. When he finally saw me after waiting over an hour beyond my scheduled appointment time. He handled my case very dismissively. After a five minute exam. he saw I was chewing gum and he said you are my second sore jaw from gum chewing not an ear infection. My family doctor saw internal swelling and puss clogging and put me on medications. I had an open sore draining in my ear.
