I saw Dr. Baird after being admitted to the hospital with profound weakness. In the hospital, I couldn’t walk and needed help with just about everything. I’m 22 years old and work as an EMT so this was certainly not my normal. Dr. Baird saw me for 5 minutes and decided that I had a conversion disorder and nothing was truly wrong with me. She also arrogantly told me that I could not have a disease I have been diagnosed and treated for for 8 years. She said, “I would know if that exists since it’s in my field, wouldn’t I?” She spoke about this disorder with very outdated information (over 30 years outdated). She told me I did not need to do any tests for my current issues and talked of cancelling the MRIs I was scheduled for. She was abrupt, rude, and dismissive. It turns out that I was having a side effect from a medication I was taking that broke down my muscle tissue. My cardiologist diagnosed this after my discharge no thanks to Dr. Baird.
