Unprofessional and unacceptable
My partner went in for a pair of tests to help diagnose a progressive muscular illness. Sims decided that the patient was too personally irritating to him because they were nervous about the test and wanted to see the needle he would be using, so he refused to do the test. My partner had to wait a month while suffering an increasingly-worsening problem only to be turned away because Dr. Sims has an attitude problem. This is completely unprofessional and he should not be practicing. Clearly out of touch with the people he is paid to help.

Don’t.
Had high hopes for a visit to get some answers about chronic muscle and nerve issues and he didn’t even ask me barely anything about my history, how this came about, what brings it on, nothing. Didn’t really even mention nerves at all, actually. I had to basically suggest everything I thought this could be. Started talking, mostly to himself, about various tests people can get without even truly delving into my own particular issue. Waste of time.

Would give zero if I could.
One of the worst doctors I've ever dealt with and he wasn't even my doctor. Watched this doctor treat a loved one like a drug addict for wanting help with extended periods of pain. Has the bed side manner of a rat. Personality is off af. Obviously doesn't have the same range of emotions as a normal human being. Shouldn't be a doctor, would rather take vacations than heal people. Special place waiting for "doctors" like him.

Dr Sims and his staff are very professional. He gets to the point and does not sugar coat things, he tells it like it is, sometimes people don’t like that but that is what I pay him for. His nurse responds very quickly to questions. I had a good experience.

Rude, condescending not capable of listening. Accused me of lying and even called in his office manager to prove his point. She however agreed with me so he left the office pouting after answering one of the questions because I forced him to.

Headache for over a year! – Aug 12, 2021
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Sims?
I truly feel its time for him to retire. You can't question him without him becoming mad and even asking you, well what should I do? Maybe listen to your patient. Having a seizure or feeling like you stop breathing while you sleep is enough stress on youalready. If you cant brainstorm with your doctor then who else are you suppose to do it with. If you even say something about another doctor he takes it personal and wants to walk out the room or just flat out say well do what they suggest then. The worst doctor I have been to in life. My daughter started having seizures and I live 4 minutes away from his office but I dont play with my children so we drive an hour and a half away to see a different one.

This physician is rude. His bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired. I can understand why I got in so quickly. I would have given him a zero if that have been a choice. My pain was a 10 for 6 weeks and that was nothing to him as he was more interested in making me feel small and dehumanized.

Went in to check why I was experiencing a lot of daytime sleepiness. Told him I had lost 50 pounds and wondered if I needed the pressure adjusted cpap machine. He immediately dismissed the idea. He was mad I never followed through with g for depression, and that I went off the antidepressants. I left the office with no help in regards to the daytime sleepiness which was very troubling. I called back to the office to try and get some help!! He then agreed to lower the pressure... the sleepiness went away..... Do not recommend! My GP will follows my sleep apnea needs... Dr. Sims is fired!

I go to Dr. Sims because he is the only sleep study specialist in Dubuque, IA. If I had other options to treat my sleep apnea I would follow up in a heartbeat. Dr. Sims is unable to answer even simple questions about my diagnosis, medical device, or prescriptions he wrote for me. He did not know if the prescription he was writing for me would interfere with my birth control, which was extremely important to me. When I went in for a check-up he was very condescending when asking why I hadn't worn my APAP for a week. I explained that I was traveling for the funeral of a family member I was particularly close to and very emotional about his passing. He simply stated that is not a good reason for leaving my medical device home. "How hard is it to pack it up with you?" I seriously cannot stand this doctor. He should have his lisence revoked.

Unhappy Apnea – Jun 22, 2019
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Sims?
He was very condescending. I don’t feel like he listened to me at all. He just acted like he knows everything. I did the sleep study and then during follow up he pressured treatment without explaining the options thoroughly. When I picked a treatment other than the preferred treatment he basically laughed at me. Worse bedside manner I have ever seen. Definitely would not recommend.

Dr. Sims diagnosed me with multiple sclerosis, after reporting problems to multiple doctors for years. I was very scared and didn't know what was going to happen to me. He was very professional, considerate and truly concerned for my welfare. I never before had a nurse like his nurse Mary, she spent time with me teaching me about multiple sclerosis, providing me resources and getting me in touch with support groups - she went above and beyond her duty. Very grateful for there work.

I went in for occasional "active" dreams to see what I might try. Told me to remove sharp objects from my room, hang heavy drapes, and have an extensive sleep study done that may not show anything. Planned to medicate me regardless of outcome. When I didn't want to do that before discussing with my spouse, he made me sit down and explained everything again. Then stormed out of room when I told him I wouldn't schedule anything right now. Acted like a child and was very condescending. Retire!

Dr Sims is extremely unprofessional and unwilling to listen to his patients needs. If you don’t agree with his exact ways and want to look at any other option than what he suggests, he storms out of the room like a child. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone! Beware!

Worst experience with a doctor ever. Met with this doctor after trying medication that he suggested for 7 months. I did not like how it made me feel and with never have been being diagnosed with epilepsy before want to try other options. The doctor instantly had an attitude making statements that I was going against doctors orders, putting myself at risk of having a seizure and was so made he stormed out of the room. Very unprofessional!

I suffer from neuropathy in my legs due to lupus. I had a follow up with Sims, I explained to him that I was experiencing increased pain in my left leg, along my hip. A week later, the pain became worse. I called to see if I could get in, his recommendation, I can wait to have an MRI done when I go to Mayo, which is scheduled in 10 weeks and I can go see my primary. I called him Sims because he is unfit to be a doctor. If you have neuropathy problems do not waste your time going to his office.
