Dr. Bassam Assaf, MD

I am so happy that we were able to meet Dr Bassam Assaf and his wonderful staff. My mother has been diagnosed with dementia and she has been getting treatment with infusions and has been doing fantastic. I cannot thank Dr Assaf enough for helping my Mom and our family.

I visited Dr. Assaf at the Center for Neurosciences in Moline, IL, for a cluster headache. I found its office was clean and well-organized. The front desk staff were welcoming and polite. My waiting time was around 20 minutes. Dr. Assaf demonstrated his professionalism, asking questions and listening carefully to my concerns. After a correct diagnosis, he explained my treatment in detail for me to understand. As a patient, I felt comfortable under his care, seeing great results from the treatment. Overall, I had a positive experience, and I would highly recommend Dr. Assaf to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and compassionate neurologist.

Dr. Assaf is a very thorough doctor who cares for his patients. My mother was just diagnosed with Alzheimer's, so this journey is just beginning. I am comfortable and pleased with my mom going forward in his care. I am thankful there is someone like him here in the Quad Cities. Even though her diagnosis is a very scary one, he was very patient and reassuring and kind, and is knowledgeable about the current therapeutics.

The staff is terrible… There was even a sign saying we match your energy. Will send someone else in to listen and then come back and make you wait hours in the room saying he is going to take care of other staff. He dosnt listen at all. Staff changes like you change your clothes. Had to e.g.g done and never got results back due to hard drive issues. Lost my blood work, read of my test that he had to send his staff across the street to get in front of his staff. () was in the hospital and staff said to come get my papers for work when she could fax. I could of lost my job. He never read anything from my other doctors. The list goes on and on. He also will not do anything with referrals. He will push it on to your family physician. He also has his family working there now . His good staff will talk to you and say sorry when they’re ready to leave. Same staff stay.. meaning the bad staff.

My husband suffered a stroke four years ago caused by a blocked carotid artery leaving my husband’s left side impaired. After Iowa City discharged him, we sought the help of Dr. Assaf to continue monitoring my husband’s physical health. Two years later Dr. Assaf saved my husband from another stroke due to tests he thought he should run to check the other artery. Dr. Assaf has been wonderful to work with!!! We are deeply grateful for the way he didn’t wait for a possible stroke but had tests run to catch the second blocked artery early!!! The office staff is easy and a delight to work with!!!

I have been seeing Dr. Assaf for 10 plus years for epilepsy. I had absence seizures when I was young and evolved into the grand mals when I was a teenager, went through many many doctors to try and get them controlled. No luck. Went to Iowa city, mayo clinic and nothing. We were finally referred to Dr. Assaf. He was able to find where my seizures are starting which is the left frontal lobe and find the right combination of medication for me quickly. My epilepsy is controlled thanks to Dr. Assaf. Will always recommend him.

Excellent experience with Dr. Assaf! He really took the time to listen and then patiently laid out the plan of action. Felt very comfortable and confident at the end of the visit.

I've been seeing Dr. Bassam Assaf since 2019.He is very through discussing my health and any questions or concerns. I always feel at ease after seeing him once a year to make sure my meds are working well for me.I’ve been seeing Dr. Bassam Assaf since 2019.

My 89 year old father has been seeing Dr. Assaf for several years. Dad has age related dementia, and as POA I accompany him to all appointments. I’ll summarize our last appointment as a review. Shortly after arriving we were roomed and a polite staff member took dad’s vitals. A few minutes later another staff member (nurse or practitioner) came in and gave dad a thorough neurological questionnaire evaluation. After that we had about a 10 minute wait to see the doctor, but he did pop in to tell us he would be there soon. When he arrived he completed the physical portion of dad’s exam, and asked us if we had any concerns or anything we wanted to relay. We talked for about 15 or 20 minutes about dad’s condition and his medications, and on what to watch out for. This man is concerned about his patients. He is thorough, and he wants to be sur his patients and their caretakers understand everything as much as possible. His staff is also friendly, and competent by my observation.

Dr Assaf will give you the BEST treatment possible for your condition.He treated my daughter's head-injury induced seizures and she is completely back to a normal lifestyle now.I later visited Dr Assaf for my migraines which having increased in severity, duration, and frequency in the past 15 years had taken over my life. I would have been happy to just get a drug and be done with the migraines. But he considered ALL aspects of my condition . . . I had back issues that interfered with sleep and exacerbated my migraines, so I got physical therapy and am sleeping better; we identified contributing triggers for my migraines and formulated lifestyle changes to head them off; and we methodically went through a progression of meds as treatment options before we settled on a plan that has truly been life-changing for me.With Dr Assaf, you will be a full partner in your treatment.

Dr. Assaf cares about his patients. He listens to your concerns. I have been very blessed to have him and his staff take care of me in and out of the hospital over the years. He is an expert of his field. Highly recommended!!

Dr. Assaf and staff are wonderful to work with! They helped us navigate the red tape of insurance authorizations and he advocated non-stop for our daughter! With his help and expert knowledge we were able to get our daughter back with the correct treatment for her Narcolepsy!
