Peripheral Neuropathy
Dr Hawley was very thorough in his examination. I suspected I might have neuropathy in my legs and feet and his diagnosis confirmed it. He asked many questions and listened when I was talking. He has a nice demeanor. It was a good visit for me.

Disgusting Treatment- Stay FAR Away
Would give zero stars if I could. General practitioners should never refer patients. One of the most dismissive doctors I have ever seen. Absolutely no empathy and based his 'diagnosis' off of the comments of other physicians. I am a woman, so naturally I was told that my neurological condition was 'just anxiety' and was advised to do breathing exercises. In response to these comments, I made sure to reiterate multiple times that I do not have anxiety and have never had issues with my mental health. Despite this, he still sent out letters to my other doctors claiming that my condition was caused by anxiety and that I need psychiatric treatment. Because of this, I was not treated for my condition and I suffered in pain almost every day. As I'm sure other patients can understand, untreated neurological conditions can be dangerous. He is 83 years old, which wouldn't be a problem if he was a better doctor (and human being). Carilion Clinic should be ashamed to have him on their staff!!

Appalling experience
Dr. Hawley was disorganized, did not listen during the consultation, had zero bedside manner with my Dad, and focused on a condition my dad had forty-five years ago instead of the real reason we were there. Dr. Hawley seemed to be on a power kick from start to finish. Also, this is the first negative review I have ever written, as my dad has been blessed with top-notch medical care...until we saw this doctor.

Absolutely awful! I have bladder incontinence and numb legs and feet due to a back injury. Did tests and found a pinched nerve but told me I needed to lose weight and follow the pamphlet exercises. I've been in physical therapy since Sept.

I saw Dr Hawley a year ago. I had chronic migraines for decades and had moved to chronic daily migraine. I have previously been under the care of family doctors and neurologists. Dr Hawley asked questions and took notes for approximately 40 minutes. At the end of our discussion he came up with a treatment plan. I have gone from daily migraines to three or four a month, most of which I can stop with abortive he prescribed. This has been a life changing experience for me and I would recommend him to anyone looking for someone to help with their migraines.

Horrible! Put me through excruciating painful tests and showed no compassion. Gave a wrong diagnosis and looked down on me with disdain with every answer I gave. Never go to this man . He should not be practicing.

Dr. Hawley kept misstating my condition and didn't appear to grasp the two different types of pain I was stating, saying my pain was all over the place and didn't make sense, so he could not provide a diagnosis. Offered me a 30 year old handout on migraine diet, when I have not been diagnosed with migraine. When I asked if he had something more current, he got defensive and said recommendations hadn't changed. I doubt this is true after 30 years, as dietary recommendations for most things change sometimes yearly.

If you want a good neurologist do not go to this doctor. I agree with everything above regarding his inability. I went to him in full faith thinking I was going to get answers for my neurological issues, instead of that being the case he wrongly diagnosis me with something entirely out of his field and then sends "his findings" to my primary care doctor!! Total breach of confidentiality!! I have since filed a complaint against him. Please check out the reviews on here, I wish I had of done that!

Easily one of the worst physicians I have ever encountered. I am a RN and apparently Dr. Hawley is unable to assess and diagnose patients on his own without using other physicians work. Dr. Hawley is looking to base his diagnoses on the findings of other physicians vs. developing his own by assessment, imaging, research and applying his knowledge base. I found him to be astoundingly unprofessional and unethical. I would not recommend him to anyone for any reason.

Dr. Hawley was very thorough and compassionate! Spent time doing tests even through his lunch period. I was very impressed with his diagnosis at this point. Would recommend him highly.

Just saw him today and cant believe that he still has a license! He rufesed to listen to all I had to say and then twisted my answers and above all wanted to contact my other doctors and send my personal information without my consent! I had to report this breech of patient confidentiality by Dr. Hawley. It is very disappointing that he would do this, but his advanced age could be the blame or maybe it is just his brash attitude and conceited personality. Please do not waste your time or money
