Doesn't listen
I went to him for neurology work ups and he didn't read my chart, the info I brought with me or listen to me when I explained what was going on. Instead he insisted he be my Dr for my migraines even after I explained I have a migraine specialist. He then shamed me for not getting a medication I needed because I couldn't afford it. After finally diagnosing me with neuropathy, he refused to treat it and told me to 'come back when I needed my migraines' handled.

My wife has seen Dr Marrufo for quite some time. At first yes, he may seem distant but he's really just trying to hone in and narrow down the issue. Out of the neuro's we had seen -- he was the only one to listen, diagnose properly -- and help us. He saved my wife's vision and possibly her life. Don't let his demeanor get to you -- he's pretty pretty jovial once you get to know him. But make no mistake -- he is the best doctor of this type in the area, and I would dare say among the top in the state.

He visited my mom during her recent hospital stay. She has Parkinson's. His bedside manor is the worst I've seen. He tried to tell us she didn't have Parkinson's, which she was diagnosed 4 years ago, and that she only has vertigo and needed to make an appointment to come see him. She's currently immobile and going to a rehabilitation facility so I have no clue how he thought she would be able to get to his office. She was in the hospital for a fall in which she broke her nose and a facial fracture. He did a complete vertigo evaluation and she is now on increased pain meds due to him causing pain to her neck and shoulders. We advised the hospital that he is not to come into contact my mom again.

Dr Marrufo-Salazar leaves a lot to be desired. My husband is a patient and we are currently trying to find a different Neurologist. All he says is he's in remission, not the medication causing the problems, not the disease causing the problems. Refuses to change his medication and either wants a CT scan, because he says he has a pinched nerve, or wants him to change his eating habits. I fix his meals and it is exactly what the Mayo Clinic recommends for patients with my husband's disease. I went with him a couple times to try to explain the issues and all he did was prescribe him medication for restless leg syndrome and interrupt every time my husband or myself tried to talk to him. Which is not the problem, because they have not helped at all and it's been over six months. The office staff is okay, but apparently not very reliable when it comes to faxing orders for blood work over to the doctors office or hospital.

Dr. Marrufo is the best physician I have came in contact with. After reading many reviews about him being straight to the point being a bad thing, I feel people just need to realize that he is a SPECIALIST. You can't expect him to treat you the way you need without being straight forward. I highly recommend him. His staff is also very excellent, and do an amazing job.

Dr. Marrufo has been my primary care provider for a spinal cord injury I suffered in 2012. I have been very well pleased with his knowledge and thorough approach to treating my condition. His office staff are always pleasant and professional.

Dr. Marrufo-Salazar and his staff are excellent. My 80 yr, old mother told him how handsome he was. Three people in our family use him and we all think he is the best. I have highly recommended him to my family and friends.
