Our experience with Dr. Shapiro and his office was amazing. In every appointment we found him to be very thorough and his staff to be incredibly efficient. My husband's surgery and recovery went extremely well. Dr. Shapiro always ensured we had all our questions answered and was very patient with us. He truly helped make a difficult situation easier with his demeanor and authentic caring. While in the hospital recovering we found the nursing staff to also be highly respectful and appreciative of Dr. Shapiro's work. We highly recommend Dr. Shapiro and so grateful he was the surgeon for my husband.

I am glad I was referred to Dr. Shapiro in 2006 and consulted with him through the years and in 2021 I had to go through kidney surgery, where clear cell renal cell carcinoma grew to the size of a golf ball had to be removed. Dr. Shapiro is knowledgeable, skilled, professional and very patient. He laid out all of the options and helped me to make a decision. His staff is friendly, skilled and patient too. During every visit Dr. Shapiro explained everything in great details, going over MRI and blood/urine test results. Before the surgery he went over the procedure and explained it a few times, explained who’d be involved in the process and during my recovery at the hospital after the surgery. He checked on me at the hospital every day. My 6 month follow up appointment was the best ever with some good news of kidney free of cancer and being healthy. I like his energy and optimism.

He saved my life...it was a scary time being diagnosed with cancer. Dr Shaperio took the time and effort to explain everything to me and walked me through my options. The followup was fantastic. Making sure as each year went by that I got the right testing done to verify I was clean. Best doctor I ever met.

Dr. Shapiro has been one of the best doctors I have dealt with. His professionalism, knowledge and skills are unprecedented. His evaluation, diagnosis, surgery and follow up exceeded my expectations. Dr. Shapiro spent the required time with me and my wife to make sure we understood what was going on, what would be happening and what to expect after surgery.

I have seen Dr. Shapiro for over ten years to monitor a nodule on my prostate. About a year and a half ago, my PSA rose above acceptable levels and I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Dr. Shapiro advised me of my options and was thorough and patient with me during my decision process. I chose to have a da Vinci radical laparoscopic prostatectomy a year ago. Dr. Shapiro’s skill, professionalism and very competent ability as a surgeon successfully removed my prostate and completely excised the cancer in my body with minimal pain or discomfort. I have had quarterly PSA tests since the surgery with undetectable levels of any cancer and I have fully regained all normal functions with no incontinence issues and continuous progress in my sexual function. This only was possible because of Dr. Shapiro’s knowledge, experience, skill and ability to bring about this phenomenal result. I highly recommend Dr. Shapiro as an outstanding physician and surgeon.

I chose Dr. Shapiro blindly from the Arizona Urology Specialists website after having an unsatisfactory result from a doctor at another practice. My basic criteria were history and education. My introduction to him personally was by way of a teleconference viewed with my wife. We were immediately impressed by his positive attitude to resolving my problem and obvious high energy. He is a fellow who radiates confidence and competence. His practice is located in a very convenient location. The reception area is clean, modern, and spacious. His staff is well trained and professional. Dr. Shapiro was straightforward in discussing my problem and possible solutions to it. Once the decision was made on what course to take, it was full speed ahead. I can report that after surgery and six months of follow up my problem has been resolved to my complete satisfaction. Like all other doctors I will follow up with Dr. Shapiro in a year. I highly recommend him to all with this problem.

After being diagnosed with prostrate cancer a few years ago I consulted with a few doctors and found Dr Shapiro. I felt very confident in him personally and professionally to perform the Da Vinci robotic prostatectomy. Dr Shapiro is a "perfectionist" and his colleagues and staff Top notch. My outcome has been very good and I am now cancer free! I highly recommend him.

All three members of my family are patients of Dr. Shapiro. He is the consummate professional: knowledgable, thorough and approachable. He listens carefully to our concerns before recommending a course of action. I have had a couple of prostrate related procedures. These have been accomplished with the utmost care. Our daughter is developmentally disabled and has on-going problems with her kidneys as part of her genetic disorder. Dr. Shapiro was able to engage her and develop trust with her at her first visit. As a result, she willingly goes to her appointments. We have recommended Dr. Shapiro to friends seeking the expertise of a urologist. He is just great.

Dr. Shapiro is what you want a doctor to be...forthright, understanding, and highly skilled. When I needed surgery to remove a cancerous prostrate, all my questions were patiently answered, everything was fully explained ahead of time, and the procedure went as planned. And the follow-up was just as thorough. I have seen and trusted many doctors in my life. Dr. Shapiro is one of the few A+ grades I would give.

Extremely skilled surgeon and a absolute life saver (literally) with empathy and great communication skills. Don't know how you could make a better choice.

Long wait. Told it would be a hour longer, but when I said I was leaving they got me in. Doctor rushed through the exam.

Very unhappy. No tests were done and no follow up scheduled.The office staff is very uncaring and standoffish. Very uncomfortable atmosphere.

Had a procedure done by Dr. Shapiro. I really like him as both a doctor & a person. He definitely seems to care about my health and it isn't as obvious with some doctors. The only negatives are: some of the support staff could use a little better "bedside manner" and it's difficult to contact him if you have an additional question. I recommend that you prepare all of your questions prior to seeing him so that you don't have followup questions, if possible. Will keep this doctor, for sure.

They really made a huge mistake. Booked an appt and did not bother to ask my new insurance info. Then they call back the day before the appt and ask, and I find out they do not take the new Ambetter. Wasted days waiting. I am in pain, now I have to find a new doc. Go elsewhere!
