Dr. Rishi Sharma, MD

Dr. Sharma performed my routine screening procedures and he diagnosed and treated me for a more severe esophageal condition. Dr. Sharma was always very responsive, up-to-date and skilled on the latest research/procedures and he showed compassion and understanding during a difficult time. He is also well connected with some of the Bay Area's best esophageal specialists. In addition, his staff goes the extra mile without delay. Daniela sent me a link to a report I needed, for another doctor, within 5 mins after hanging up the phone with her. Unfortunately I couldn't open the file, but she was able to send it to me in a readable format early the next business day. Exceptional care and support from Dr. Sharma and his staff.

I was referred to Dr Sharma because I was having pain in my pancreas/back/ stomach etc. He said he would do an endoscope but because I was 50 he might as well do a colonoscopy. My endoscope was fine. My colonoscopy was not. He called me immediately after to tell me I needed to be scheduled for surgery, got me in very quickly & removed a 6x2 precancerous area. I've been back a few times to make sure I'm ok and he's been great every time.

He's been my gastroenterologist for a few years. At first I was happy with him. But lately I've had GI problems and have left messages for him but it's been over 24 hours and he hasn't gotten back to me. I'm uncomfortable and disappointed. Also recently had two different procedures at his outpatient surgical center. Think I was his last patient for the day. Post-procedure he rushed to leave before I woke up enough to ask questions I wanted answered. Seems like he's too busy to bother with me. Makes me feel like finding another doctor.

Very gentle. Knowledgeable. Infused confidence.

Dr. Sharma is a kind person who goes out of his way to explain procedures and reassure his patients. He is extremely professional, and I highly recommend him.

I had scheduled and confirmed/been pre-screened for a procedure at a nearby hospital as directed by this office, I was informed via a phone call an hour before start time while I was at the hospital with my drive-home person, that my procedure needed to be rescheduled because I didn't have a covid test (but was prescreened and told it wasn't necessary by the hospital who performs the procedure). I immediately called the office to find out more and was told that the anesthesiologist was not available so I couldn't have the procedure done. I told the person that the voicemail said it was because I didn't have a Covid test, I was transferred to another person who told me that the procedure was going to cost too much and needed to be performed elsewhere and it was a mistake but the doctor caught it and requested I be given the procedure at a more affordable location and they could reschedule. I did receive a call apologizing for the mix-up. The staff is not truthful and very incompetent.

Office staff is ineffective at executing on fundamental responsibilities including, but not limited to returning calls, providing procedure briefings in a timely manner. When pressed to speak to a nurse after no return calls, I was told that they had "38" patients to attend to ... and I'd need to wait until someone called me ... advised hours and sent email outlining ... email had no net effect. Finally received a call 1 hour & 42 minutes prior to have to begin pre-op regimen - unacceptable. Firm recommendation to find a service provider whose staff is not so overburden.

The one thing that really stands out about Dr Sharma is how much he cares about his patients! He is very knowledgeable and takes the time to explain everything to patients!

Dr. Sharma treated me in the hospital for a recurrence of diverticulitis. He was excellent in all ways. I greatly appreciated his thoughtful approach to my treatment. I highly recommend him.

VERY Poor follow through. Had to pester his office for lab results. The procedure was fine, but if the Dr. and his office do not follow through, all they are doing is collecting money and not caring about the patient.

Dr. Sharma saved my life! I’ve had colonoscopies before which my last doctor said was impossible to get to the end. Was referred to Dr. Sharma, he was able actually complete the procedure pain free and found a large polyp that was removed. His office staff was very kind as well.

Polite, quick to order proceedures / tests, but doesn't follow up. Patient or his primary care has to chase his office for reports and records. I change my gastroentrologist and his office was not succesful to get my records from these folks so a month later I had to personally have heated arguments with his office.

Dr Sharma and staff were very nice and willing to help during the initial visit. Afterward though, the staff was completely unprofessional. I have been battling abdominal pain for months. I called to discuss test results and the office manager was incredibly rude. She interrupted me multiple times, told me the test was positive for a gallbladder issue then back tracked and said it was negative. When I called again the next day she told me to shut up and that talking to her was all I would get.
