I've been left with a knee implant I'm allergic to. Turns out I'm allergic to Nickel and Dr. Illgen was unwilling to perform any diagnostic testing to find out what was wrong. Perhaps he's too busy with his side job as a consultant to the local law firms to pay attention to his patients.

rude abrupt disinterested will never see again
Was referred by an in clinic provider to see him. He basically told me I “didn’t belong there unless I needed surgery right now”-it was a consult!!!! -rude uncaring and would never see again.

Disappointed patient – Feb 17, 2024

COLD
Many, many years ago, he replaced my knee. He was cold, rude, abrupt. I want to believe his attitude and bedside manner improved. My knee is a little "sloppy", but still works. I am definitely disgruntled, but this behavior, anytime, has caused me to hold a grudge. Take it for what it is.

Dr Illgen was amazing in his ability to empathize, explain and execute my THA at the wonderful UW at the American Medical Center. A very positive experience from start to finish.

I saw him, following a 3 month wait to get in, but decided not to proceed. He was not interested in hearing my concerns and comments about what I was dealing with. After intake, then a wait for the PA, then finally Illgen spent about 2 minutes talking and not listening.

I had a full left hip operation. After operation and PT, I am walking around with no more arthritic pain. I can cross my legs and am more flexible than before. One leg was a little longer than the other before the operation and they ended up perfectly the same length after. I have a very active lifestyle and it is nice to get back to that again. Great job Dr. Illgen!
