A soft spoken soul
My husband came to Rochester Mayo in terrible pain, and walked out pain free after his decompression surgery from Dr Nassr. Not only was the surgery successful, but the appointments beforehand and now, a year follow-up, Dr Nassr gave us his full time and attention. This is sometimes not the case with surgeons and doctors and we appreciate that you value our time and take the time to explain things and answer questions.

A rare soul
I don't know how to sum up what Dr. Nassr did for us and how he strikes me. A different provider did a laminectomy on my dad at L3-L4. At the time, my dad had a UTI. Fast forward, and Dr. Nassr dealt with the subsequent infection of the spine and degeneration through a six hour surgery, fusing T10-L1. The day after my dad's surgery, his Parkinson's is well controlled, his muscle spasms that had him doubling over are gone, and he says he feels his hands and feet again. This will be a long, long recovery with ups and downs I'm sure. But all I can say is my dad has another chance now to live a life he can enjoy. So many thanks to Dr. Nassr. Not only does he have the skills for this, it's his soul that stands out. He spoke to my father so gently, reassuringly in spite of the dire circumstances, and so kindly answered questions never once making us feel like a nuisance or pack of idiots. I absolutely went away scratching my head, wondering where a rare treasure like Dr. Nassr comes from.

Dr. Nassr gave me back my life
I've been wanting to write this review for almost a year but decided to wait until I was almost fully recovered. A year ago, Dr. Nassr and team did a complete spinal fusion, from my neck to my tailbone. I was 70 and the outcome of a complete recovery was far from certain. Not only did the pain go away immediately, post surgery, I regained most of the height I had lost. Although my flexibility is definitely reduced, through time I have adapted and now drive, walk long distances and do limited pilates. Days go by that I almost don't think about it. Before meeting with Dr. Nassr, I was resigned to living a life with a spine that grew more painful and twisted by the day... I went to several spine specialists even a scoliosis clinic in Texas. All told me there was nothing I could do except exercise. I am not overstating things when I say that Dr. Nassr gave me back my life. He is also a wonderful, warm human being and I can't say enough good things about Mayo in Rochester.

Dr. Nassr answered all of my questions and concerns. He did a great job of explaining my condition. After surgery I spoke with him every day I was in the hospital and he spent as much time as I needed to answer my questions. 4 weeks after surgery I feel great. It is great to be able to walk without pain once again.

I have been experiencing back and leg pain for quite some time and was frustrated by not being able to find a doctor who was willing to provide a diagnosis, prognosis, and comprehensive treatment plan. Dr. Nassr listened to my concerns, answered my questions as well as my husband's questions, and treated us with compassion and kindness. He scheduled additional tests to provide him with more information about my condition. I am so grateful for him and the caring staff at the Mayo Clinic.
