I had three surgeries done by Herbert. First a knee replacement that came with more pain than I had ever experienced in my life! I had nothing but problems with the knee and within 5 years I needed a revision. I only went back to Herber because I was having it done through the VA and that's where sent me. I went through 2 more extremely painful surgeries and a long painful rehab. On my first visit back he tells me the revision is lose. Thats the last time I went back to see Herbert. I had to have another revision in 2020 and the surgeries were relatively painless in comparison. I hoped he'd be retired by now. And my hope is that any vet who reads this and is referred by the VA to Herbert demand another doctor.

Best Knee Doc around!
Masterful and caring. I wouldn't trust my knees with anyone else! He is skilled and one of the best in the country. I have known so many athletes in the area who were put back together thanks to his hands.

UPDATE: Since this last writing below; Dr. Herbert performed my second hip replacement, I am completely pain free and rowing 30 minutes everyday and riding a bike again. Dr. Herbert gave me my life back! Very grateful and thankful! I was fortunate to have Dr. Herbert as a Surgeon for two different non related operations. I suffered 24 hour pain from three prior operations by other surgeons and if not for Dr. Herbert cleaning up from the prior operation; today I would not be pain free. My second operation performed by Dr. Herbert was a hip replacement, I am two weeks out from the operation and pain free. His exceptional skill in orthopedics is coupled with kindness and genuine caring. I thank God for placing him in my life.

Had to get a knee replacement revision after 14 months of original knee replacement (June 2018). I was having pain in my left shin. I was told I needed a revision of the same knee and it was completed on Dec 2019. After this surgery, I was then told my left patellar tendon was torn which led me to six weeks in a knee stabilizer before I could even start physical therapy. It is April 2020 and I'm having even worse pain not in my knee but in my shin again so painful, I can hardly walk. I'm very disheartened with Dr. Herbert because he's brushing my concerns off. I was told to take medicine (hydrocodone) and not to go to the emergency room. Dr. Herbert told me to go to physical therapy and then have my PT call him while I was there. He didn't pick up and she left a message. As of now, I am unsatisfied with my care and highly contemplating going to Penn State. I need to change doctors.

In my opinion of Dr. Herbert, there is no other doctor that I would trust to do the revisions that he has done to fix the screw-ups by another well know Dr, in the Camp Hill, Pa. area
