Dr. Reshma Desai, DO

Excellent! Today was my first visit, and Dr. Desai was attentive and unhurried. I felt as though she and I were on the same wavelength. Her instructions to me were clear and her explanations made sense. I look forward to our follow-up visit in 8 weeks.

She appears to be uncaring. Basically wants to be in and out of appointments. Does not appear to listen or respect what you are saying. She is now at a new clinic with philosophy of spending more time “getting to know you”. When you attempt to discuss your personal health, she doesn’t treat you as an individual. Pat answers for everything. She belongs in an urgent care. Not even close to being an internist!

Feel she rushes through and doesn’t really take the time to get to know her patients. I thought she was going to come back and ask if I had any more questions but she was just gone. 10 minutes or less.

I gave her a few tries, and decided she wasn’t a good fit. Then I got the letter she was leaving Fairview Edina and it validated what I was picking up. She made generic referrals, didn’t do a real exam and was out the door quickly. Maybe it’s the Fairview System or burnout. Hope her next place is better for her.

I saw her in 2021 for an annual physical as I had just moved and needed a new family physician. Through most of the appointment I felt like she wasn't really listening to me. In one particular situation, she pointed out a health marker and gave canned advice about it. I responded with why that canned advice was not relevant to me and how my situation was different. Either she didn't believe me or didn't care because she doubled down on the canned advice. When I again reminded her that wasn't applicable, she repeated the canned advice and moved on. Not the type of care I was looking for. I would not see Dr Desai again.

Told me, a 71-year-old woman with osteoporosis, that I didn't need to take calcium because I had enough in my childhood. Other providers strenuously disagreed.

Took the time for me to answer all of my questions - very patient.

Incredibly rude and not caring. Would not listen to any questions I had and made no effort to listen. Was incredibly rushed and I felt so bad that I trusted her with my only appointment for the year. What a crushing feeling for someone. Literally rushed out the door within 10 minutes.
