Competent and caring
Dr. Gandikota has helped me with my diabetes and my thyroid problem. It took a while to get my thyroid levels to where they should be but she nailed it with some creative dosing. She puts responsibility on me for my diet and exercise and expects that rather than simply prescribing medications. She will answer any question and explain anything that might be asked. Wait time for appointments can be long (as for most specialists) but once I'm in the waiting room, less than a 10 minute wait, generally.

The doctor is nice, but I’ve been waiting for some time for them to complete a form for me to get a diabetes testing monitor. Her staff has been ignoring me and just says she is extremely busy. I really need the supplies. Her staff seems incompetent. I’ve never had a problem with other doctors before

I absolutely would not go back to this doctor for my thyroid issues. Maybe she is a good diabetes doctor, but she didn’t know much about thyroids. Didn’t even know what tests to order for a set of standard thyroid labs. She was so unhelpful and belittling that I sat in the appointment crying. I gave up my spot on a six month waiting list for a better doctor because I was offered an appointment with Dr Gandikota and I should’ve just waited.

Dr. Gandikota is extremely knowledgeable and is up to date on the latest research in her field. She expects you to follow her advice and participate in your care. However she is very realistic and empathetic as well.
