Exccellent long-term care
I have seen Dr. Thakuria for 5 years for a macro aneurysm in my eye. He is very thoughtful, thorough and kind. The visits do take a long time but I feel confident in his care. He is very thorough and does not rush the visit. He answers any questions I have without condescension or impatience. I schedule my appointments first thing in the morning to avoid long wait times.

One of the best
Dr. Thakuria is an exceptionally thorough and compassionate physician. I had the privilege of getting to know him when I faced a retina emergency (CRVO). He promptly made himself available for a follow-up, and the injection he administered was highly effective in preserving my vision. While there might occasionally be delays for late-afternoon appointments, it's understandable given that he often goes above and beyond, dedicating more time than scheduled to ensure the well-being of his patients.

I have not personally met Dr Thakuria but I was awaiting surgery from another provider in the practice and I had a concern. I called the number provided and Dr. Thakuria was the physician on call. He explained everything clearly, reassuringly and patiently. I could not have asked for anything more. Many thanks to this kind physician.

Horrible! He should be ashamed to call himself a doctor. He gave me an injection for AMD. My vision went from 20/30, which I held for one year. After the injection my eye swelled and I could not see out of my eye for four days. I cannot begin to tell you of the excruciating pain. My sight went from 20/30 to 20/40 and has gotten progressively worse. If you value your eye sight STAY AWAY FROM THAKURIA! (He does not deserve the title doctor) If you want a five star doctor, Doctor Gupta is your man! Thakuria got one star only because this review won’t accept no stars.

During my first visit with Dr. Thakuria, he did not even introduce himself! He proceeded to attempt to analyze my eye while also doing the work of his assistant. (Incompetence on her part, or perhaps she was not trained.)As he looked at the back of my eye with the slit lamp and a magnifying glass, the light that was produced literally burned my eyes! Two days later, I went to another eye doctor and he confirmed that Dr. Thakuria caused a corneal flash burn of both of my eyes! "Do no Harm" is the Hippocratic Oath! He did harm and it has taken almost a week to get over the burning sensation. I wonder how this could affect my vision in the future??!! The Rhode Island Eye Institute does not know how to run their business, and a so-called doctor like this surely does not help! ~I remain "Anonymous"

Wayyyyyyy too slow. It’s 1:00 and I still haven’t been seen for my 11:00 appt. and he’s regularly behind. There’s thorough and then there’s ridiculous and unfortunately he’s the latter

Very thorough. I had a retinal tear with detatchment and he lasered it in the office the same day after hours. The office staff was kind and helpful also.
