Dr. Kempf retires but doesn't notify patience
Called today, Sept. 8, 2023 to verify my appt. with Dr. Kemp for Nov. 2023. I see him every 6 months for my Lupus. I was told by receptionist he was retiring this month, Sept. 28. but my apt. was confirmed for Nov. 28. I was told I would have to find someone else. Unbelievable that they didn't even notify me nor tell me how i am suppose to get my medication.

He is the best, I believe, in this entire area. He’s thorough, helpful and painless with the injections I need for my arthritis.

Worst Doctor Ever
I have never been so brushed off in my life before. I was recommended this doctor by my general practitioner because I was presenting symptoms of Lupus and had a Lupus rash that was DIAGNOSED by my doctor to be caused my lupus. I go into the office and am not seen by the doctor but by some bratty assistant who takes one look at my chart, sees I’m on depression meds, and just tries to diagnose me with fibromyalgia because because with fibromyalgia commonly have depression. I’ve had depression my whole life, years before any medical issues. Then she asks me to do blood work which I do, multiple levels are off and there are a ton of red markers in my blood work. She sees I also have a UTI at the time and completely writes off all of my test results as me having a UTI and that she is hesitant to diagnose me with anything besides fibromyalgia even though I have not one symptom of that besides the depression, which in mind I have had for years. Worst practice ever

Such a rude staff, first and second time I was there. Unfortunately I had to deal with one of the worse assistants there with an absolutely bad attitude towards patients. Seems like she does not want to deal with her assignments and instead of finding help and solutions, all she does is to discharge her frustrations on you and make it look like it is all your fault, instead of taking responsibilities for not correctly doing her job she is being PAID FOR. On the other hand the Doctor from my experience was professional, not too caring or the kindest however as long as he’s paying attention to the real matter that’s fine with me. Anyway I came back to check on my results which I never had due to this lazy and unprofessional person. Over all this office just gives me the feeling that there’s not a minimum care for people who sadly are having a terrible time with their health and need a bit of understanding and caring.

Excellent Doctor
I been a patient of Dr. Kemp for over 5 years. He has always been extremely attentive to all of my questions and treatment for my condition. I am extremely happy to have him as my Rheumatologist. His staff have also been great. Please keep in mind, northern Virginia is full of complainers and the negative reviews are expected for any business. He's a great doctor and you will not be disappointed.

Dr. Kempf was HORRIBLE!! I have seen many many doctors and he was by far the worst doctor ever. Not only did he not let me talk or ask questions during the appointment, he administrated a cortisone shot incorrectly that left a PERMEANT indent and very black blue scar on my knee. Do not waste your time with this horrible doctor!

Great experience. I've been under the care of Dr. Kempf for over 10 years. I have rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Unlike what I've read from a couple of other reviewers I find Dr Kempf brilliant. He's not touchy feely but he's got a great heart. He may not appeal to some who genuinely need coddling as part of their healing but he is very focused and listens way better than you may realize. He's got his own style. He's serious in a cool way. He doesn't waste time and gets to the point without baloney. Dr Kempf not only knows his field of study in the traditional sense but he is open to brief discussions of oddball naturopathic things I read. He asks about family, and if I have help. I have been pain free and enjoy pickle ball these past 10 years and have only lapsed when I do something I shouldn't. I have recommended Dr Kempf to a friend whose doctor was doing very little to alleviate her autistic son's pain for years. He's finally doing well thanks to Dr. Kempf.

I just had my initial appointment with Dr. Kempf and, after reading some of the reviews, I was quite surprised with my visit. I found him to be very serious and professional. To the point. Very thorough. No "small chat". If you are looking for someone to listen to your long stories, I would suggest having coffee with a friend. I was impressed and feel very confident with his expertise.

Very impersonal; does not interact with the patient; did not go over test results until asked; how is a patient supposed to know what to ask? I asked to see x-rays; "I don't have them"; it would have been nice to see what my problem was waiting room jammed packed - social distance does not exist - I had to wait in the hall.

I saw Dr. Kempf for many years and was amazed with him...but alas it was a dream. The ONE NIGHT my husband called his answering service after hours, he reveal his inner self. We were blasted for disturbing him while he was out to dinner with his wife. I saw his partner after that, but eventually but moved away. ??

A former patient who left broken – Aug 01, 2020
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Kempf?
Dr. Kempf was professional with me when I went to see him, but I had an extremely frustrating experience with his office. Almost every time I called the office, it went to voicemail and I heard back from them weeks after leaving multiple messages. I was having blood work done and communicating with both Dr. Kempf's office and the lab. The doctors at the lab often contacted me directly because they tried on multiple occasions to get a hold of Dr. Kempf's office to no avail. A month and a half after my blood test began, I contacted both the lab and Dr. Kempf's office to see if they had my test results. A lab specialist promptly returned my call. She said it was highly unusual that she would call a patient directly, but was concerned that Dr. Kempf had not called me to let me know since she informed his office of my test results *two weeks* before calling me. Neither Dr. Kempf nor his staff ever bothered to contact me.

The office isn’t fancy. The staff is kind and efficient- even though it’s clearly a busy practice. Dr. Kempf is quiet, thorough, contemplative but he LISTENS and he takes notes and refers to those notes in subsequent visits. He is focused and measured and KIND. After years of being dismissed by doctors and having my symptoms explained away despite my requests for understanding and relief I found Dr Kempf’s thoughtful and measured approach helpful and reassuring as I navigate my diagnosis and treatment plan. He takes the time to answer all questions thoughtfully and completely.

How can I put this..............miserable. I should have never listened to my general practitioners recommendation and should have based my decision on the plethora of other negative reviews. I have hepatologists, gastroenterologists, orthopedic surgeons, cardiologists, opthomologists and other specialists in my roledex and this was the worst experience I have ever had with a doctors office and the doctor. The staff upon entry was not welcoming and was almost bossy. The place was dirty and disorganized. No one identified themselves or their roles and skills. When Dr. Kempf walked in, he was rude and distant and didn't seem to give a crap . I felt more like an inconvenience in his day instead of a patient in need of help. I mentioned my arms were in severe pain so his brilliant next step was to yank on them and not apologize when I stated how painful it was. He was absolutely miserable. If I had the ability to shut an office down, I wouldn't hesitate for a minute. Not 1 minute

It was miserable. Barely talked to me. I might have been a piece of furniture for all my presence seemed to mean to him. His practice-mate is just as bad. The staff are either haughty and cold or defensive. Horrible place. I am now suddenly without medication because they failed to renew my prescription for bogus reasons. They never answer the phone and rarely return messages. They don't seem to care at all about how they upset and frustrate their patients.

This is the worst office I have ever had to deal it. The staff is rude and answers the phone with “hello”. This is not a personal line, this is a professional office. The doctor is also rude and unhelpful. I’m not sure if he has any manners at all but he speaks over other people while this is supposed to be a dialogue. He is not a people’s person. The office is also supposed to be open until 3:30pm as stated on the automated system’s message but about 2:50-3pm nobody picks up anymore.

I don’t want to make assumptions about the other patients who have left reviews but my care was exemplary. His diagnosis and treatment was the only thing that has provided relief for my lower back pain. He is professional and as also as he’s practicing in this area, I’ll be going to him.
