Excellent, thoughtful physician
Dr Markowitz is the best - she is thoughtful, takes her time for the best outcome, and is truly an artist. The entire office experience is unparalleled, from the coffee offered when you arrive, to the non-existent wait time, followed by seeing Dr Markowitz, who is truly excellent. I recommend her to everyone I know! She is also meticulous about avoiding any pain, which is rare and very appreciated.

lack of attention
focus on getting you in and out and generating revenue. assistants (note takers) lack knowledge and billing is outsourced, so unable to speak to anyone in office.

Great experience
I have been a patient of Dr Markowtiz for almost 10 years. I first started seeing her when she was at Mr Sinai after I had a melanoma appear at an early age. I was immediately more comfortable that she would take my skin checks seriously and use the latest technology and science to treat me going forward. Since she moved her practice from the hospital I have noticed the experience has dramatically improved. There is little to no wait time, the staff is great and the environment is clean and welcoming. I have done PDT and found it much more effective than freezing pre-cancerous spots. I highly recommend Dr Markowitz and her new practice.

I needed a follow up visit immediately with a "real" dermatologist to address the concern I had that this doctor dismissed as nothing while trying to upsell cosmetic procedures the entire time.

I have been a patient of Dr. Orit Markowitz for several years. She has always found time to see me when I have had a problem. She is a very kind, caring and knowledgeable doctor with all the new "cutting edge" procedures. Her staff is wonderful and her office is beautiful and very calming. I highly recommend her.

I don't know that I've ever felt more scammed by a doctor. I recently saw Dr. Markowitz based on a recommendation, and I was impressed on my first visit. She determined I had multiple precancers on my forehead and recommended PDT, instead of freezing, which I had had done in the past elsewhere. I think I know why she recommends PDT--big moneymaker!!! She never told me that it's very expensive and that insurance only covers about half of it. Nor did she tell me that it doesn't always even work!! She didn't even bother to show up to the appt, and an assistant applied the medicine and the light. Never saw the dr. once. I didn't have the sunburn reaction that is typical, and I think that it did absolutely nothing, yet I'm out $800. When I questioned her about if it was effective she just said I could make another appt. When I expressed my concern about the high price of my medical bill that I wasn't warned about, she said she will send my email to the billing department. I continue to be b

My first visit was very good. Dr. Markowitz gave me a full body exam and identified one area for PDT, Photo Dynamic Therapy to eliminate precancerous cells on my right temple. My second visit was unacceptable. Instead of Dr. Markowitz, two different aides saw me and asked what I was there for. When I told them PDT on my right temple, one of the aides looked at my face and summarily identified three other areas for the PDT (suggesting they too were precancerous). That was disturbing (and questionable since Dr Markowitz looked very carefully at my face during the first visit. On top of that, PDT leaves unpredictable "sunburn" marks without a guarantee that they will disappear so I insisted on seeing Dr. Markowitz. Unbelievably, the doctor suddenly agreed with her aide that those areas on my face should receive PDT. Essentially, she was saying that I now had four areas of precancerous cells on my face - that she missed. It felt to me they were adding PDT applications to increase the bill.

Dr Markowitz has become more laid back about her full body exams in recent in person visits. Recently, due to covid, she suggested a full body exam via zoom. I obliged. It was non productive, and she was unable to assess the marks of concern through a computer screen let alone without her doctor's lenses. She sent me a bill for the "exam" (aka zoom chat) anyway, where she suggested I buy a camera and take images of areas of concern (of impossible to reach places myself) and then book another appointment and have her take a look. I have since found a thorough doctor who finds marks of concern himself, biopsies them right away, and provides professional medical feedback and care.

I went for full body check with a specific area of concern and she did not catch it. After a biopsy it turned out to be a basal cell carcinoma. Additionally, I did an online check-in the night before and when I arrived for my 7:40 a.m. appt. I was told by the receptionist that they did not participate in online checkin and I was seen nearly an hour late.

Dr. Markowitz was extremely late for both of my appointments -- over an hour late for the first. The staff had made me undress and put on a gown before telling me just how late she was running, so this it was an unpleasant wait. The 2nd time I was told that Dr. Markowitz was running 40 minutes late, so I left. She also may have misdiagnosed me (hence my return visit). I also left the first visit bleeding. She moved on to the next patient without patching me up. A receptionist gave me a Kleenex

I made a very early appointment, thinking she would be on time, but I still waited over 30 min to see her. When she finally did come in, she was so rushed, spoke to the nurse and the other doctor, and barely spoke to me. She gave me no chance to ask questions and when she left, I was utterly confused about her diagnosis. The nurse was nice enough to explain more after she left, but that's not what I'm paying for. I will not be returning.
