This man met with my dad once and then scheduled him for a spinal fusion and laminectomy. He didn't meet with my dad before or after the surgery, only briefly told my stepmom and myself that surgery was done and went great. At his follow up appointment, my dad explained that he didn't have any nerve relief -- in fact his pain is worse. This is because Szerlip DIDN'T DO THE LAMENECTOMY. His response was "this has never happened". Yeah, based on some of the reviews I see -- yes, it does happen, Nick. Someone else mentioned he has a God complex, and I agree. He was cocky and rushing and now my father has an entire slew of issues from the rushed fusion, and the screws for the cage have migrated. Let me be perfectly clear: the surgery that Dr. Szerlip performed on my father didn't help anything whatsoever, and instead caused many more problems. Now, a year later, my father has to get another surgery to actually get the laminectomy this time, and they have to correct the mistakes from Szerlip. The rushing, the cockiness, and the complete lack of communication and bedside manor (what surgeon never sees their patient before or after operating on them?), he is someone that needs to be checked. I don't care if he's the smartest or most talented when he wants to be -- a top neurosurgeon means nothing if he doesn't care about his patients. His carelessness has had detrimental effects and I truly hope he looks into the mirror and does some work -- he's young and it's scary to think of how many more lives will be in his hands.

Cervical surgery went great!
Had surgery at the end of August 2023 and was out the next day! The scar was minimal and healed without complications. I don’t have the numbness I had in my legs anymore and I’m able to walk and turn my head again. He was a great surgeon to have and was professional from start to finish, would definitely go back to him again. He was kind and accommodating to my hearing loss and was a pleasure to have work done by!

Terrible. This guy has a god complex. The worst doctor I have ever seen in 50 years. Don,t waste your time. Find someone else.

The guy walked in the room and spent about 5 minutes talking to the intern that was with him. He never asked me any questions or told me what was going on. The next day I get a call from his nurse saying he wanted to order a CT scan and then see me again. He never said a word to me when I was in the room with him but instead he spent the 5 minutes he was in the room talking to the intern he was with. He walked out and never returned. This guy is awful. I drove over 100 miles for this visit as well. This guy has no bedside manners. The worst Doctor I have seen in 50 years. I am still confused at what happened that day. I would not recommend him at all. Some doctors have great bedside manners but this guy was a joke. He needs to go back to school and take a few courses on how to communicate with his patients. I think he is to young and has a god complex from the best I could tell. What a waste of my time.
