Good doctor
Doctor Akbar is my husband’s heart doctor. We both like him. He listens to you and is very down to earth. He makes you feel comfortable talking to him. Always has a smile too. We are very pleased with him

Incompetence and Neglect
Dr. Akbar was caring for my mother and diagnosed her with heart failure. His inability to work her up completely or listen to other suggestions was unbelievable. He was so "certain" of his diagnosis that he absolutely refused to perform further tests regardless of her family pushing for further tests. Following several calls to him while my mom was in the hospital and pushing for a further work up, he completely declined a full cardiac workup on a young patient. A patient whom he couldn't even explain the cause of her heart failure. His inability to consider he was not fully correct and listen to other healthcare professionals lead to my mom having a stroke. Dr. Akbars stubborn "I know everything because I am a cardiologist" attitude left my mom with deficits for the rest of her life. Can you imagine being so full of yourself that you refuse to perform simple tests on a patient and cause the patient to have a stroke? Unbelievable.

I was diagnosed with post partum preclampsia and had to be on blood pressure medicine. I was referred to Dr. Akbar and so happy I was. He is fantastic. He has a wonderful personality, very patient, listens, and he actually wants to help you get off your meds if you're able too, like with my condition. I'm changing my lifestyle and it's working. I'm so happy with Dr Akbar, I will definitely recommend him.

On 9/22/16 Went to ER and found out I was having a heart attack. Dr Akbar looked at my EKG and did an ultrasound of my heart, to see the damage. He was talking to me the whole time showed me what was wrong with my heart, and plus I had a blood clot. Then he took me back to put a stint in my main artery and was telling me what he was doing the whole time and would ask if I was alright. I really like that, a down to earth Dr who talks to you to were you understand him. I would differently recommen
