Horrible Rude Uncaring
Didn't do the most basic of exams, like listen to my heart mush less bother with an EKG. Spent less than 5 minutes in the room and got mad when he had to stay to answer a question about medication.

Terrible Experience
I accompanied my husband to several appointments at Dr Schwender’s Hopkinsville clinic and each time it was a bad experience. The staff has clearly not been trained in bedside manner. The clinic is unorganized and dirty. The Dr stepped into the room for maybe 5 minutes and only looked at my husband’s chart and didn’t do any sort of exam. While waiting for a stress test 2 staff members came into the room to “clean” some holter monitors and completely ignored the fact that there was a patient in the room and proceeded to have a lengthy unprofessional conversation. When my husband asked for his records to take to his pcm he was told they couldn’t give him any records until his last visit.

My mom went to Dr. Schwender, at first she thought he was great. Then she had to go in for a 6 month follow up, and all he did was listen to her lungs ( This from a Cardiologist) and she was getting ready to ask some questions, and he said see you in 6 months and left the room. Her PCP wanted her to ask about issues she was having, and she had questions about some other things and he cut her off without giving her the chance to talk. I, ( her daughter) called the office manager to explain what happened, and the lady was rude and kept saying that because she did not have someone in the room with her that what my mom was saying was not true. So basically called my mom a liar! Not good practice if you ask me to be rude to the patient, and the patients family member! Did not even listen to her Heart! Only her lungs! Did not even exam her!

My husband had just spent 9 months in the hospital from a systemic MRSA infection. He showed signs of a-fib in the hospital so our family dr. referred us to Dr Schwender for follow up. He implanted a loop monitor into my husband's chest. We went every week for follow up visits. The wound was obviously becoming infected. Dr Schwender would not listen when we told him my husband was being followed by an infectious disease doctor, and he called in an antibiotic for "the redness". Our pharmacist refused to fill the Rx because it could have a "fatal intrraction" with my husband's daily meds. Last night, the wound opened and the monitor popped out! Now we are at a major hospital over an hour away being treated for the infection and having the wound closed!

TERRIBLE bedside manner. My mother was told if she had fallen a day earlier, it would've been better because he had one hour until he was going on vacation. He was the on-call cardiologist at the hospital. I would NEVER recommend Dr. Schwender.

Dr. Schwender saved my life. If not for him I probably wouldnt be alive. He didnt waste time running the right tests and his recommendations were excellent as far as hospital and recommended surgeon for my operatiom! So I give him a 5 Star ***** He also changed medications another doctor prescribed which was hurting my mother and got her stable on some new ones !!
